Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is an eight-year (2019–2027) global health initiative funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). EpiC has presence in more than 60 countries and extensive breadth and depth of technical experience.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), EpiC supports HIV and COVID-19 programming and Global Health Security activities, including response to the ongoing Mpox outbreak.
Under our HIV funding in DRC, EpiC provides technical assistance (TA) to local USAID/PEPFAR implementing partners that offer key population (KP) services in Kinshasa, Lualaba, and Haut-Katanga. EpiC TA is to identify technical capacity priorities, develop plans, provide training and mentoring, support policy addendum for ED-PrEP and CAB-LA intro, develop standard operating procedures for HIVST, and support transition of DHIS2 tracker to new KP partners.
Under our COVID-19 scope, EpiC provides TA to strengthen DRC health workforce restructuring and supply chain system and to strengthen DRC’s Liquid Medical Oxygen (LOX) Infrastructure.
Under GHS, EpiC is strengthening local public health systems to effectively prevent, detect, and respond to infectious diseases and collaborates with the Ministry of Health (MoH), other relevant Ministries and health stakeholders in Equateur, Nord Kivu, Sud Kivu, and Ituri provinces. EpiC supports the MoH’s Mpox response and conducts activities in alignment with the DRC’s national Mpox preparedness and response plan.
FHI 360 is seeking applications for the position of Project Director for the EpiC project in DRC to lead our HIV, COVID-19, GHS, and Mpox work. The position is to be based in our office in Kinshasa, DRC.
The Project Director (PD) leads the project and is responsible for achieving the project’s vision and strategy, directing the project technical team, and managing critical relationships with national and international partners and other key stakeholders. The PD has overall programmatic and fiscal responsibility for the project, including achieving project results, effectively communicating accomplishments, reviewing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with all US government and the organization’s regulations. Plans and directs project schedules and monitors budget/spending. Monitors the project from initiation through delivery. Organizes project(s) activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. The PD will be a strong manager with expertise in public health with an emphasis on GHS or HIV/AIDS, with operational and implementation expertise and deep experience leading USAID programs.
