Action Against Hunger USA is part of the Action Against Hunger International network. As an independent NGO, Action Against Hunger USA currently manages operations in 8 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia and Haiti. Action Against Hunger-USA has over $100 million in programs, and approximately 1,800 permanent staff based in New York City, Washington D.C, Nairobi, and country offices. Additional growth is anticipated.
I. Summary of position
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for all aspects of warehouse and stock management, from sourcing warehouses/storage spaces, ensuring warehouse conditions are up to standards, reception of supplies, keeping an inventory of all items in the warehouses, sorting of delivered supplies, packaging and labelling items and preparation of cargo and dispatch to last mile
Engagement:
- Interact frequently with the other bases to offer support as a roving Warehouse Manager
- Engagement with program leads to plan for reception, storage, and dispatch of supplies.
Specific Duties:
Objective 1: Warehouse and Inventory Management
- Ensure the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by supervising, organizing, directing, and training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operation goals
- Oversee the picking, storage, receiving, dispatching, security, maintenance, sanitation and administrative functions. Ensure the Preparations of the Bin card & Stock for each stock, write the stock reports, and follow movements and other logistic activities.
- Ensure & manage the implementation of LINK LOT II as of August 1st 2022, ensure all reception, stocking and dispatches are processed through LOT II in Mogadishu and all bases.
- Lead and organize periodic inventory exercises per ACFs procedures, execute and produce reports on a timely manner.
- Provide all technical guidance regarding warehousing, stock management (physical and on LINK) and inventory management to all bases.
- Ensure appropriate conditions including temperature controls are met for cold chain items.
- Provide training and capacity building to both logistician and program staff
Objective 2: Manage and Compile Mission logistics report and Donor Report:
- Review, compile and consolidate the logistic reports of the bases and the capital.
- Provide well organized feedback on the report and identified gaps in each bases and recommend solutions accordingly.
- Compile LMIS reports from Action Against Hunger supported facilities and ensure reconciliation with stock reports at warehouse level and dispatches to specific facilities/bases. To be the focal person for reviewing and compiling of donor report with support of LOG HOD.
Objective 3: Handling customs clearance and foreign cargo shipments.
- Follow and handle as focal person for all customs clearance issues in collaboration with head of department-Logistics, IT manager, program team/pharmacist, Government Liaison & Reporting Head of Department and HQ procurement team.
Objective 4: Audit related Tasks
- To be the focal person for reviewing and compiling supply related audit rel queries and coordinate with base logisticians and HOD logistics to collect all necessary documents and provide feedback with in support of LOGHOD to the concerned
Objective 5: Team Management
- Supervise and coach Mogadishu Warehouse team
- Organize and follow up leave plan for, performance evaluation (POA, PIP)
- Provide technical support to bases and advice for all in need of your support in your area of responsibility.

IV. Physical demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods and to concentrate on work, including typing, and turn out heavy volumes of work accurately, within short time frames under stressful situations in the context of a moderately noisy office with many interruptions. Must be able to proofread own work accurately so that only minor corrections are needed on an infrequent basis.
- To travel to the field, the employee must attest to a level of physical fitness capable of enduring physically difficult, highly stressful situations which may include the necessity to walk long distances, to eat a limited diet and/or to reside in potentially uncomfortable housing or tents. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. V. Working Conditions, Travel and Environment
- The duties of the job require regular job attendance five days per week. Must be available to work outside normal office hours or on the weekends as required.
- While performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee may be exposed to precarious settings under high security risks and/or very basic living conditions and outside weather conditions, as well as infectious diseases.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- B.A. degree in Supply Chain and Logistics Management/Business Administration or equivalent field of studies.
- At least 5 years’ work experience on the similar position.
- Experience in large scale management of pharmaceutical products and nutrition supplies.
- Expertise in digital warehouse solutions.
