ITS Finance and Risk Overview:
The Department supports WBG core finance and risk functions by enabling increased financial operations agility through a range of robust, flexible financing instruments and facilities for WBG private and public sector clients. We work in close collaboration with our business partners to be a leading developmental financial institution. We develop and support solutions for financial management, payments and disbursements, new lending product development, financial accounting, institutional analytics, external reporting, funding of balance sheet, donor relationship management, investment of liquid assets, asset liability management, cash operations, liquidity management, measurement and monitoring of credit risk, market, operational and liquidity risk, and serves as the focal point for Fintech innovation, internal process improvement and agility.
Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a seasoned Solutions Architect to join the Finance and Risk ITS department, reporting directly to the Department Director. This role will be responsible for partnering closely with business leadership to architect and deliver transformative finance and risk technology solutions that enable the WBG to scale capabilities needed to achieve our mission of creating a world free of poverty on a livable planet.
The selected candidate will lead the development of a future proof solution architecture and coach a global and diverse team of cross-functional resources to efficiently and effectively deliver technology solutions while fostering a culture of innovation, sustainability, and agility efficiently and effectively.
This role stands at the center of business and technology and requires an experienced strategic advisor who can forge deep relationships with the business and extended ecosystem to fully leverage the force multiplier effect of technology on driving business value.
Responsibilities: Below is a summary of the expected duties and accountabilities, among others:
Business Solutions Architecture
•Assume role of Solution Architect contributing to the implementation, maintenance, and operation of business-critical financial applications supporting the World Bank Group Finance and Risk lines of business. This includes applications that perform trade capture, settlement, accounting, valuation, quantitative analysis, market data capture, curve construction, call monitoring, SWIFT messaging, collateral management, market and credit risk management, reporting, etc.
•Apply technical and business knowledge to architect and oversee the implementation of solutions.
•Contribute to the rationalization of technology products and solutions in the Finance and Risk portfolio while effectively managing and mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with policies, standards, procedures, and security requirements.
•Continually assess and evaluate the impact of emerging technologies against strategic business needs identifying simplification and integration opportunities.
•Contribute to design, configuration, and deployment of systems and business solutions in support of core organizational functions and processes.
•Guide implementation of system enhancements, upgrades, updates, patches, and fixes to assure optimal system performance, data integrity, and reliability.
Specific First Year Accountabilities:
•Evaluate current capabilities, strategies and roadmaps of the Treasury portfolio of financial applications and develop recommendations on future improvements and opportunities for consolidation and simplification.
•Be and active contributor to the currently on-going WBG Treasury Platform Consolidation project.
Selection Criteria
•Master’s degree, majoring in Computer Science/Information Systems, with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience or bachelor’s degree with 10 years relevant experience using current technologies and in financial domain.
•Thorough understanding of application development and maintenance, business processes, and required technology capabilities in a financial organization.
•Deep experience in banking, treasury, or credit industries with broad knowledge of finance and risk specific technologies.
•Experience in solutioning and implementing capital markets, investment management, treasury operations in Murex MX3. Specific experience in consolidating multiple solutions into Murex platform is strongly preferred.
•Knowledge of standards and best practices for portfolio management systems. Knowledge of software models used in business applications, trade management systems, development tools, and middleware, each of which has a lifecycle to be managed.
•Proven ability to effectively partner with business stakeholders to build strong partnerships, foster good governance, ensure strategic business/IT alignment.
•Willingness to challenge assumptions and rigorously debate ideas.
•Sound engineering judgment about the differing tradeoffs of competing approaches to technical problems
•Advanced knowledge and experience in IT management practices in financial industry. Good command of agile software development practices, and global IT delivery models is a plus.
•Strong knowledge of application delivery technologies and trends, including proven experience modernizing application portfolios across business and technology aspects.
•Excellent understanding of portfolio and project management principles, including applicability of SDLC, Agile, and DevOps. Expertise in software technical design, planning, project management, implementation, and support for a variety of Finance Applications.
•Experience in deployment, integration, and on-going management of Enterprise Applications.
•Knowledge and practical experience across a formal systems development life cycle, from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
•Strong collaborator with outstanding interpersonal and diplomatic skills, including the ability to facilitate, negotiate, and influence for successful outcomes. Ability to influence decision makers through collaboration, education, and working partnerships.
