JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Finance Group (FG) is a critical and strategic business function in UNOPS and serves as an authoritative and integrated partner in the organization on strategic financial planning and budgeting, business strategy and practices, financial analysis and risk assessment, financial management services and long term organisational treasury and investments. As the steward of resources of a self-financing UN entity, FG is accountable for timely cost recovery and reporting to partners, maintaining the integrity and transparency of financial management of resources in accordance with the highest standards of ethics and organisational/international accountability framework and the accurate and transparent financial reporting to governing bodies, clients, partners and stakeholders.

The Finance Specialist – Treasury Solutions is a new position created which will report into the Head of Treasury. Under the overall guidance of the Head of Treasury, the role is responsible for ensuring that UNOPS enables an efficient and coherent use of Treasury Technology in order to support Treasury operations in the best and efficient manner. The role holder will be responsible for the functional implementation of new treasury solutions and upgrades, including any relevant coordination and testing efforts and will be required to take ownership on the investigation of systematic errors (payment errors, mapping rules, etc.) The role will also entail project management of new and ongoing project initiatives, including the coordination with the relevant functional Treasury teams. The role holder will be expected to maintain a continuous interest and research in Treasury technology and payment innovations landscape to facilitate an efficient application of technological advancements at UNOPS.

1. Functional Ownership of Treasury Technology

 

  • Functional product owner of Treasury technology solutions (NB UNOPS ITG remain technical product owners)
  • Maintain and integrate treasury technology systems (trading platforms, TMS, Finastra, etc.)
  • Implement new solutions, technology and payment upgrades
  • Identify, coordinate and test solutions
  • Investigate systematic errors (payment errors, mapping rules, etc.)

2. Treasury & Payment Innovation

  • Focus on and identify opportunities from Treasury trends (especially on technological advancements) and payment innovations
  • Lead the implementation of new payment solutions/types/formats to support the UNOPS projects
  • Set up and implement third-party payment modalities


3. Management of Ongoing and New Project Initiatives

  • Act as Project Manager for any Treasury projects or initiatives, not limited to technology and payment projects
  • Coordinate with Cash Management & Solutions team on the maintenance of ongoing project cash management modalities

4. Knowledge management and innovation

  • Contribute to the development and introduction of innovation to ensure UNOPS is continually incorporating best practice approaches into financial services.
  • Contribute to the dissemination and sharing of best practices and lessons learned for corporate development planning and knowledge building.
  • Plan, implement and organise capacity building of personnel, clients and stakeholders.
  • Support UNOPS in facilitating an efficient framework on the dissemination and sharing of best practices so that knowledge is utilised to the most extent possible.

Finance Specialist – Treasury Solutions enables enhanced use of treasury technology and treasury innovations in the best interest of UNOPS treasury operations with an effective project and stakeholder management activities, hence gradually facilitating recent technological advancements at UNOPS, as well as project cash management operations globally for all UNOPS offices.

Education:

  • Graduate university degree in finance and/or business or a related field is required.
  • A combination of Bachelor’s degree with two additional years of work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • Appropriate professional accreditation or qualification in Treasury and Project Management is highly desirable.
  • Membership in an internationally recognized Treasury body would be an advantage.
  • Treasury system certification would be a further advantage, particularly for the current TMS provider (Kyriba)

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in treasury with a strong focus and expertise on Treasury technology, project management and Treasury payments landscape is required.
  • Exposure to and experience with treasury technology (e.g., trading platforms, payment connections) and implementation experience are essential.
  • Treasury Transformation experience is a strong asset

Language Requirements:

  • Full working knowledge of English.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset

 

 

Contract type: International Individual Contractor Agreement

Contract level: I-ICA-2 (ICS-10)
Contract duration: Open-ended, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds and satisfactory performance

This vacancy is looking to fill a full-time open-ended position. However, as the contract modality for this Vacancy Announcement is an International Individual Contractor Agreement, UNOPS may also use the results of this recruitment process to offer a full-time short-term, or a retainer (contract for intermittent work, subject to budget availability and business needs) contract.

As per the terms of the Host Agreement between UNOPS and the Government of Denmark, UNOPS officials are privileged to an exemption from taxation on the salaries and emoluments paid to them by UNOPS granted that they reside in Denmark.
While this is a Local Individual Contractor Agreement, the position is open to all nationalities given relocation to or current residency in Denmark.
