ABOUT LOGISTICS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OFFICER AT WFP
The Logistics Cluster Logistics and Information Management Officer reports to the Logistics Cluster Coordinator.
THE ROLE
WFP, as the lead agency for logistics coordination, maintains a Logistics Cluster support capacity based in the Supply Chain Division of WFP HQ Rome. This cluster comprises a diverse, multi-skilled group of humanitarian professionals. It is mandated by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) to complement and coordinate the logistics capabilities of cooperating humanitarian agencies during humanitarian response operations.
At the field level in Burkina Faso, based on the needs communicated by the humanitarian community, the Logistics Cluster is facilitating access to logistics services for the humanitarian community, including storage, road transport, and air transport. The Cluster also supports logistics coordination and information management to maximize the use of available resources in-country and provide logistics support and advocacy to establish a more coordinated and cost-effective operational approach.
RESPONSABILITIES
The Logistics Cluster Logistics and Information Management Officer will act as the focal point for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating logistics information in close coordination with Logistics and IM staffs of other UN entities and NGOs involved in the humanitarian response.
The Logistics Cluster Information Management Officer will be embedded in the Logistics Cluster Team in the Country Office and work closely with the WFP GIS Officer or, in the absence of a dedicated in-country capacity, with the GIS Unit of the Global Logistics Cluster in HQ. He/She will be responsible for:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
