This position is within the Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs (LPA), Office of Public Engagement (PE), at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs (LPA) is responsible for managing the Agency’s external affairs and provides central Agency focus and overall coordination for all aspects of legislative and public affairs matters. LPA serves as the central point of contact with Congress, the media, and interested stakeholders.

Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes a) Preparing materials related to public engagement and liaison activities to present to all stakeholders; b) Managing key public engagement with external stakeholders to cultivate good working relationships; AND c) Working with diaspora organizations to plan external engagements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
GS-13: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone–no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Specialized Experience GS-14: One year of specialized experience which includes a) Working with diaspora organizations to plan events; b) Preparing materials related to public engagement and liaison activities to present to all stakeholders; c) Assisting with broad strategies and specific outreach plans designed to strengthen the exchange of information between organizations and targeted audiences; AND d) Identifying potential risks in stakeholder outreach or event management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience relevant to the position’s duties to be filled, including volunteer experience.
