Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position of Associate Project Analyst is assigned in the Risk Analytics Unit (RAwithin the Office of the Director General (OPSof the Private Sector Operations Department (PSO. You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.
You will report to Unit Head, OPSDRAU and/or designated International Staff or Senior National Staff.
Your Role
As an Associate Project Analyst, you will provide analytical support for processing assigned portfolio and new transactions, with emphasis on analytical and technical support for the audit and the development of comprehensive financial models based on best practice and ADB’s standards and templates. You will also provide analytical support to the area of portfolio management, or other areas of analytical support following RAU’s mandate.
You will:
a. Financial Modeling and Audit
- Build customized welldesigned, wellstructured and userfriendly financial models for different types of companies and infrastructure projects, for debt and equity investments, following industry best practice and PSOD’s criteria, and incorporating important findings from due diligence and inputs from the deal teams and clients.
- Review, modify and sensitize financial models (including detailed documentation of changefor corporates across multiple sectors and infrastructure projects, designed and built by sponsors or ADB deal teams, for ADB’s risk assessment process.
- Conduct walkthrough of customized financial models with counterparties.
- Participate in trainingrelated activities on best practice in financial modeling and important accounting fundamentals.
- Conduct financial analysis and due diligence to understand important business drivers of companies and use findings to develop financial models.
- Conduct benchmark analysis using relevant peers to validate the reasonableness of the assumptions and stress scenarios used in the financial model.
- Perform other tasks, as may be required.
b. Risk Appraisal of New Transactions
- Review, assess, and provide recommendations for important transaction risks covering sponsor, commercial and structure risks among others in proposed and existing financing transactions.
- Participate in drafting risk appraisals for nonsovereign transactions in concept review and final approval stages.
c. Transaction Monitoring
- Support monitoring of nonsovereign transactions and help prepare relevant risk appraisals or valuations.
d. Others
- Participate in selected due diligence conference calls and business travel.
- Assume ad hoc project responsibilities and other forms of assignments.
- Provide support to other divisions and units in PSOD as and when needed for special projects and tasks.
Qualifications
You will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or relevant fields
- Preferably with Certified Public Accountant (CP, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFqualification
- At least 5 years work experience preferably in international bank, rating agency, accounting firm, or multilateral/bilateral development organization, in financial modeling, risk management, deal origination or investment appraisal
- Experience in: (creating and developing financial models for multiple types of companies, including corporates across different sectors and infrastructure projects, (iadjusting and reviewing financial models for diverse project finance and corporate finance transactions, and (iiconducting backtesting of financial models
- Experience conducting financial analysis and forecasting with high level of accuracy in data analysis.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, including sectorspecific standards, and the ability to apply these concepts in creating customized financial models.
- Mastery in Microsoft Excel with the ability to build granular models and sensitivity scenarios for debt and equity transactions
- Experience collaborating across teams and with external clients
- Familiarity with risk rating tools, and developments in the area of risk management
