Ending violence against women (EVAis a priority area for the region which aims to advance integrated approaches to ensure that all women and girls live a life free from all forms of violence. This includes support to Member States, civil society and other partners to advance and monitor comprehensive, evidencedriven approaches to preventing violence against women and girls and ensuring coordinated multisectoral quality services are available to survivors, while promoting accountability to legal and policy commitments, in addition to support for women’s rights and civil society movements, with attention to intersectionality and leaving no one behind, with the aim of achieving the MDGs by 2015 and then the SDGs by 2030, the French government, through the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAand as part of the Muskoka project, is supporting four UN agencies, including UN Women, to improve the health and wellbeing of women and girls in the West and Central Africa region.
This will involve changing negative social norms that discriminate against women and girls, access to basic services including sexual and reproductive health services, social and economic empowerment and increased decisionmaking power.
Under its Strategic Note 20182021,20222025 UN Women WCARO focuses on delivering on four interlinked programme areas underpinned by support for intergovernmental and normative processes:
WCARO, in its interface role, provides quality and timely policy advisory services and recommendations for programme development and advocacy in the four thematic areas.
Reporting to the Regional Advisor, the Programme Associate will work with and provide support to the assigned Programme Team in the development and implementation of effective programmes consistent with UN Women rules and regulations. They contribute to research, financial management and programme implementation including providing necessary operational, administrative and programmatic support.
Provide advanced administrative and logistical support to the formulation and management of programmes
Provide advanced administrative support to the financial management of the Programme Unit in close collaboration with WCARO Finance team
Provide advanced administrative support to the Programme Unit in close coordination with WCARO Operations team
Provide administrative support to Resource Mobilization
Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing
