This job is found primarily in WFP Research, Assessment and Monitoring (RAUnit and job holder typically reports to Programme Policy Officer or Programme Associate. The reporting lines may change depending on the size of the office.

At this level, work is carried out with technical guidance and under minimum supervision. Job holder is expected to produce organised and accurate technical work and reports. He/she may provide guidance on standard practices to other staff and counterparts in his/her area of work.
To perform evidence generation and community engagement related duties and provide support to facilitate the effective delivery of WFP activities.

JOB TITLE: Monitoring Assistant
TYPE OF CONTRACT/GRADE: Special Service Agreement / SSA4
UNIT/DIVISION: Programme Support
DUTY STATION: Amman & Za’tari Camp, Jordan
DURATION: 6 months
DEADLINE: 16 September 2024

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not allinclusive, nor exhaustiv:

Evidence generation

  • Collect and collate various fieldbased, beneficiaryoriented data (quantitative and qualitativand contribute to evidencegeneration for WFP Jordan operations.
  • Participate in and contribute to evidence generation discussion with the aim of contextualizing the analysis with field observations.
  • Collate assistance programme(data in accordance with clear direction, in order to support programme reviews and informative decisionmaking.

Regular monitoring

  • Conduct process monitoring data collection activities in line with WFP monitoring guidance and programme developments under the CSP 2023
  • Contribute to the strengthening and maintenance of the process monitoring system (toolkit update, data quality check, data management and reportinand monitoring Logbook.
  • Maintain information records and monitor plan documentation, such as records of commodity movements and programme checklists in accordance with WFP standards.
  • Ensure timely submission of all monitoring forms, and with the best possible quality of collected data and information.

All monitoring assistants are expected to conduct monitoring activities in any part of Jordan, as per work needs and instructed by supervisor.

Community engagement

  • In collaboration with Programme Unit and AAP team, support the plan of different community engagement initiatives to inform peoplecentered programming.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of community engagement activities.
  • Foster twoway communication between WFP and the beneficiaries to reinforce the accountability and inclusion of WFP programming

Operation delivery support

  • Act as frontliner for any surge operational needs in relation to the direct delivery of CSP activities
  • Support preparations for donor missions, including identifying families, preparing for home visits or FGDs, and preparing operational sites.
  • Support on Communications related work to support the advocacy and product generation. This may include identifying and initial content drafting for beneficiaries with interesting stories.
  • Prepare field mission reports to document programme implementation.
  • Receive and collate comments and feedback from cooperating partners to support identifying programmatic issues with a view to fostering efficient and accountable operations.
  • Provide guidance for cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitor tools and methods to support them to complete selfmonitoring tasks and to contribute to the visibility of WFP in the coverage areas.
  • Follow set emergency response processes and procedures for emergency food assistance.

RAM capacity development

  • Participate in and contribute to RAM analytical activities to inform country operation strategic discussion.
  • Strengthen knowledge base and technical capacity in assessment and analysis activities serving the implementation of the CSP 20232027
  • As part of the RAM team with all field monitors based in Amman, Mafraq based staff will be present in Amman office on a weekly basis.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A postsecondary certificate is a plus

Experience: At least four (4) years of progressively responsible support work in the related area.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Has experience analysing programme output and outcome data.
  • General knowledge of WFP monitoring and evaluation systems and standards is a plus

Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.
