The result of services is to support the Cool Coalition under the Mitigation Branch in accelerating efforts to expand sustainable, efficient, climatefriendly cooling globally including through Working Groups and Nature based solutions initiatives and supporting pilot projects in AsiaPacific, mainly Viet Nam and Cambodia. Tasks include:Providing technical assistance to governments, industry, private players, academia to implement measures to tackle cooling demand comprehensively.Technical expertise in reviewing, providing technical input and support of global tools, methodologies, knowledge products and associated trainings; More specifically supporting ASEAN PCS roadmap development.Provide technical inputs and recommendations in urban cooling and passive cooling project implementation in Vietnam & Cambodia. NCAP development support in Vietnam.Preparation of two funding proposals on efficient, climatefriendly cooling;Convening, developing ToRs, meeting reports for technical expert working groups of partners globally and countrybased in AsiaPacific. 1) On the Naturebased Solutions project, tasks include:Provide technical expertise in preparation of a funding proposal on Naturebased Solutions for coolingProvide technical input and support in the project implementation phase 2) On the Naturebased Solutions (Nbfor Cooling Working Group, tasks include:Convening, meeting reports for the NbS for cooling working groupSupport in the development of case studies on NbS

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNErecognizes the need to address global environmental concerns in an increasingly urbanizing world. UNEP hosts the Cool Coalition secretariat since its launch in 2019 at the Climate Summit. The Coalition mobilizes its partners to promote sustainable cooling globally through advocacy, awareness and technical assistance tools. A consultant is needed to perform tasks of a technical, organizational and analytical nature as part of the Cities Unit of the Mitigation Branch, Climate Change Division, United Nations Environment Programme (UNE. Specifically, a consultant is needed to provide technical expertise in scalingup UNEP’s activities globally on passive cooling and naturebased solutions projects as part of the Cool Coalition Secretariat under the Mitigation Branch of UNEP with significant liaison with UNEP Paris office & AsiaPacific Office. This position will be based remotely. The consultant will support the Cool Coalition Secretariat on activating a knowledge base; advisory and demonstration support; and scaleup, advocacy and outreach. This will include providing technical & organizational expertise to develop tools, methodologies, reports and associated trainings. support in organizing advocacy and outreach events at global platforms including COP 30, OEWG, and MOP This also includes supporting the naturebased solutions for cooling working group and provide technical expertise the ongoing implementation of UNEP’s projects on efficient – climate friendly cooling in the Asia Pacific region and project proposals and implementation on naturebased solutions. The consultant will also ensure that UNEP’s activities are wellaligned with other internal UNEP programmes and Coalition partners. Relevant UNEP work on cooling includes assisting project managers in implementing passive cooling projects in Cambodia, urban cooling in Viet Nam, Nature for Cooling Challenge, and the naturebased solutions for cooling working group.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalenin international relations and development, public administration, or a similar field. Two years professional experience in project management. Exposure to buildings and construction sector, climate change and energy efficiency are desirable. Prior experience or exposure to working with UN agencies are desirable.
Languages
Languages: Be fluent in written and spoken English. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
