BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The United Nations World Food Program (WFis the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change. Supply chain management is at the core of WFP’s humanitarian response and therefore an area of constant strategic focus. Over 500 supply chain staff work around the clock to deliver food assistance to beneficiaries in some of the most complex environments.

The commodity accounting consultant will be under the direct supervision of the Regional Logistics Officer and will provide expert advice and substantial contributions to the integrated supply chain operations in RBD ensuring WFP commodities are tracked in the corporate systems, ensuring data is accurately and timely registered in SAPLESS system as well as producing corporate reports for decision making.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure timely and accurate commodity accounting in corporate systems, achieving near realtime system utilization, and ensure a high level of LESS data reliability in West and Central Africa region.
  • Ensure knowledge enhancement for Commodity Accounting staff in COs to ensure understanding of Commodity transfer requirements including the closure of open items.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of Resource Transfer request file submitted by CO, and advice COs on any inaccuracy.
  • Provide technical support to COs to ensure timely data capture and data accuracy is maintained.
  • Provide technical support to resolve any Commodity accounting issues, identify data irregularity, advise corrective measures, and provide support/guidance for clearing irregular data.
  • Ensure that physical count activities in the region are performed in a timely manner, aligned with system.
  • Provide support to COs for the Supply Chain workstreams implementation for the WFP’s Reassurance Project
  • Coordinate, advise, and support COs on LESS Last Mile Solution rollout. Field missions to COs for implementation and support of the LESS Last Mile solution as needed.
  • Provide training to WFP staff and stakeholders on the LESS Last Mile Solution, contributing to capacity building by ensuring knowledge transfer.
  • Daytoday support to global users of the LESS Last Mile solution across WFP operations.
  • Ensure that the thirdparty Physical inventory findings are well understood by the COs and determine a plan and timeline to enact any remedial actions, ensuring that any ‘course corrections’ are built into the CO’s way of working moving forward.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

  • RBD Country offices are supported in all areas of the commodity accounting issues.
  • Trainings are provided as per the plan and delivery of training is supported.
  • Alignment of Country Offices with corporate policies, procedures, and regulations.

Education: Advanced University degree preferably in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Logistics, or other related field; A first university degree in the same fields with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in the field of Supply Chain.

  • Experience in commodity Accounting and inventory management areas. Experience in reporting, monitoring, and tracking of commodities is essential.
  • Good knowledge of Corporate systems used for Commodity Accounting Tracking system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of logistics operations, policies, and practices regarding commodity accounting and management.

Languages: Fluency (Level in both French and English
