People who identify as belonging to marginalized or excluded populations are strongly encouraged to apply. Learn more about working at UNDP including our values and inspiring stories.
UNDP does not tolerate sexual exploitation and abuse, any kind of harassment, including sexual harassment, and discrimination. All selected candidates will, therefore, undergo rigorous reference and background checks.

UNDP is the leading United Nations organization fighting to end the injustice of poverty, inequality, and climate change. Working with our broad network of experts and partners in 170 countries, we help nations to build integrated, lasting solutions for people and planet.

UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPderives its mandate from United Nations General Assembly Resolution 33/147 of 20 December Called upon by United Nations Member States in that year, UNDP was requested “to improve the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people by identifying their social and economic needs and by establishing concrete projects to that end”.

UNDP’s Palestinian Programmatic Framework (PP20232025 sets out a vision of “a world in which all Palestinians can enjoy a dignified life and fulfil their own vision of a unified, peaceful and free society”.  The PPF is centered around the concept of “Transformative Resilience” and its three elements: a cohesive Palestinian identity, selfreliance, and ownership and leadership.

Over the next three years, UNDP/PAPP will build on its experiences and achievements to make critical contributions to the priorities defined by the Palestinian national development plans and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDC, through interventions in three programmatic priority areas:  democratic governance and quality services; iinclusive economic opportunities; iisustainable natural resources management.

UNDP/PAPP is implementing  Rubble Removal and Debris Management interventions covering three main activities of: a. removing and transferring the rubble resulting from the last war in Gaza in October  2023, b. preparation of the crushing sites in the proposed locations where the received rubble quantities will be crushed, c. Reuse of crushed rubble for different purposes including paving agricultural roads, rehabilitating damaged internal municipal roads, and as a platform under the proposed locations of the prefabricated units to be distributed and installed. The project aims to improve the conditions of the affected communities by preparing for the reconstruction process on the one hand while facilitating access, opening affected roads, and removing hazards affecting the safety of people. In the meantime, the interventions serve to improve the people’s resilience in the Gaza Strip within the induced challenges driven by siege and hostilities; maintaining all measures to preserve the environment.

The interventions involve risks related to explosive remnants of war (ERwhich requires close coordination with UNMAS and the local authorities. Therefore, the Project Engineer will follow up the coordination with UNMAS and ensure relevant recommendations are adhered to.
