The Global Foundations team is located within the UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFdivision and works across the UNICEF family of country offices and national committees to maximise engagements and stewardship with foundations for UNICEF. UNICEF seeks to work in partnership with the world’s leading and emerging foundations on causes of mutual importance, to achieve sustainable change at scale for every child. The organization’s vision is to harness the potential of the foundation community to increase financial investments for children, exchange knowledge around joint areas of technical expertise, engage their voice in advocating for children’s rights, and leverage social sector financing for children.

Education Above All (EAand its programme Educate a Child (EAhas been a key UNICEF partner contributing over 250 million USD to UNICEF’s Outofschool Children programme and has been a major source of income growth for the Foundation channel in recent years. To support this growing partnership, a dedicated resource is needed to operationalize the partnership across several country offices, ensuring highquality proposals, reports, and engagements with this highvalue partner.

How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

The partnerships opportunities with Qatar based foundations are growing. Currently there are USD 29 mil worth proposals under consideration with partners and equivalent number of proposals to be submitted by Q1 next year. Also, for ongoing projects worth USD 45 mil which needs to be reported back to the partner by January Keeping the above workload in mind, the Foundation Partnerships team intends to engage a consultant for the threemonth period from Nov 2024Jan 2025 in the absence of adequate capacity at this moment.

Work Assignments Overview & Deliverables

  • Proposal Development and submission for El Salvador, Guatemala, Mauritania, Morocco, and Venezuela

Feedback response for 5 EAC proposal worth 29 mil USD collated and submitted

  • Development and submission of Expression of Interest

Expression of Interest is developed for Zanzibar Phase 2, and submitted

Coordinate with 4 country offices (Somalia, Gambia, Paraguay and Tanzanion collection collation and relevant report is prepared and shared with partner on 45 mil USD ongoing projects

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education

  • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: international development, public administration, business management, communication, or another relevant field.
  • Alternatively, a firstlevel university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced University Degree.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience required at the national and/or international level in a combination of the following: experience of working with private foundations and/or other public or private grantmaking bodies or organizations, partnerships development, programming, communications, project management, proposal development and reporting is required.
  • Experience in proposal development and reporting for education partnership is an asset.
  • Experience in working with Qatar based foundations is an asset.

Language

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanisor a local language is an asset.

Please indicate your allinclusive (lump sufees in USD against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicabl, in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverag. Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicabland health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fullyvaccinated status against SARSCoV2 (Covid19) with a World Health Organization (WHendorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
