What we are looking for

The JIF is seeking a highly motivated JIF Government Communication and Partnership Advisor/Coordinator to work with the Jordan INGO Forum. 

The successful candidate will have previous experience from the humanitarian sector, interacting with NGOs, coordination forums or working groups. Well versed with the Jordan context and able to apply knowledge and experience in working with national government institutions.

Analytical and creating thinking skills, able to collect, analyze and report on information/data to resolve problems or undertake research of information and contribute to policy or strategy.

Strong coordination expertise and interpersonal capability is necessary for this position.

This position will mainly be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with national and international stakeholders. They will also be responsible for coordinating government engagement efforts with and collecting relevant information from JIF member focal points with the overall goal of supporting collective and coordinated action.

Specifically the role holder will:

  • Contribute to government engagement strategy and provide input on needs and gaps.
  • Develop and coordinate information sharing of JIF guidance related to government engagement, government policy, rules and regulations and other relevant materials. (donors, UN, Government, civil society and donor.
  • Act as the focal point between and represent JIF member concerns to different ministries and answer enquiries and share member challenges.
  • Bring attention to issues that may be important to JIF members and actively participate to improve JIF services and impact with the JIF team.
  • Keep abreast of developments regarding the Government of Jordan’s(GoJ’stand points and policies and regularly brief JIF Management on changes with relevance to the humanitarian, political and economic environment in Jordan, and priority JIF issues and impacts on JIF’s members.
  • Support the preparation of regular updates, key messages, talking points and briefing materials as needed.
  • Develop systems, and capture lessons learned to ensure adequate collaboration with different levels of the GoJ. Develop and maintain a network with government structures in Jordan, identifying opportunities for JIF to jointly develop and maintain coordination and cooperation mechanisms with GoJ.
  • Lead relevant Working Groups and Liaise (Liaise and collaborate with relevant stakeholders and represent JIF in relevant forums/cluster/working groupand provide orientations and trainings related to GoJ requirements, standards and policy.
  • Organize and lead regular meetings with relevant JIF member focal points to share information and development approaches and strategies for collective/coordinated action as well as guidance and advice for country directors in conjunction with the JIF Coordinator.
  • Supports the updating and management of the JIF Secretariat schedule and ensures that members are aware of scheduling changes, taking on planning for relevant JIF events.
  • Support reporting related to JIF activities and indicators to allow the JIF Secretariat to report accurately to both NRC, JIF membership and donors.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within field of expertise. Experience working with an INGO is required.
  • Experience interacting with government officials and ministries with professional or advanced knowledge and expertise in working with national governmental institutions.
  • Planning and managing complex and/or diverse set of activities, and ways of working, and contribute to policy or strategy.
  • Knowledge of the context in Jordan and knowledge of JIF structure and mandate
  • Experience interacting with INGOs, local NGOs, coordination forums or working groups
  • Analytical or creative thinking to identify and resolve problems or undertake research of information, with proven ability to collect, analyze and report on information/data.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic required, ability to draft reports and edit in English is required.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Ability to deal with regular special demands as a core element of the role.

  • Contract: 6 months (Fixed term contract renewal is subject to performance and funds availabilit

  • Salary/benefits: Grade 8 on NRC’s Jordan national salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions
