Programmer (Internal#224/2024)

icddr,b is a Bangladeshbased international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through highquality scientific research and innovation. icddr,b, as a valuesbased organization, encourages women and people with disabilities.

The Maternal and Child Health Division of icddr,b conducts research on Child and Maternal health, reducing their mortality in collaboration with different national and international partners.
Key Responsibilities:

The Programmer reporting to Analyst Programmer will be mainly responsible for following duties and responsibilities:

  • Collect the functional requirements and software specifications with researchers and other key stakeholders and validate with them through sprints defined by the project manager;
  • Design the processflow/programming logic for each problem using industry standards;
  • Design database using the following DBMS: SQLite, Microsoft SQL Server and MySql.
  • Develop the software code using Android, PHP, Angular/ React, .Net Core and APIs for the project;
  • Update the software developed according to new requirements;
  • Share data with researcher according to their needs;
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation like user manuals, data dictionaries, ER diagrams, and other more;
  • Setup production environment and perform backend administrative tasks in order to utilize those software as per need;
  • Any other task related with software development.
  • Train up the users on usage of software application and data capture devices;
  • Install and setup the developed application on the required devices;
  • Provide helpdesk support for user queries on the field in topics related to the use of the implemented software;
  • Routine and corrective maintenance of the software implemented.
  • Other activities related to ensure the continuity of the software operation.
Required qualification and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering or Information & Communication Engineering/ Technology from a reputed university;
  • At least 3 years of experience as Programmer/Software Developer in a reputed organization with managing multiple software development projects;
  • Working experience in software development for Android OS and Web based platform using PHP;
  • Strong knowledge using the last versions of Microsoft SQL Server, MySql and Sqlite database;
  • Desirable knowledge in Angular/React, C#, APIs oriented architecture, .Net core, JavaScript and Bootstrap;
  • Excellent working knowledge RDBMS and ObjectOriented architectures;
  • Knowledge of best cybersecurity practices for software development;
  • Knowledge of software technical documentation, standards and regulations of the Software industry.

Contract Type and duration:
  • Fixed Term Contract; duration will be for 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
  • Annual Tk.909,360/inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits.
  • 8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
