JOB DESCRIPTION

Result of Service
Review and analyse 40 OHCHR communication materials (20 disabilityspecific and 20 mainstream communicationacross various formats, as well as review material produced over a threemonth time frame. Formats include:Written statements and communicationsVideosSocial media posts (across platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIWeb stories Evaluate these materials against the following criteria from the UN DisabilityInclusive Communications Guideline:Use of personfirst language and avoidance of ableist terms.Accurate and respectful representation of persons with disabilities.Inclusion of intersectionality (gender, race, age, and other identitie.Adherence to accessibility standards (e.g., captions, audio descriptions, sign language interpretatio.Portrayal of empowerment vs. victimhood in storytelling. Engage with relevant OHCHR personnel, including the communications team and disability focal points, to gather context on the target audience and purpose of the communications. Identify gaps and areas for improvement based on best practices outlined in the UN DisabilityInclusive Communications Guidelines. Provide recommendations for each communication piece, offering specific steps to bring the material into alignment with disabilityinclusive standards. Deliver a final report summarizing key findings, evaluations, and overarching recommendations for OHCHR’s communications strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct a comprehensive review of 40 communication products.Evaluate the materials based on the UN DisabilityInclusive Communications Guidelines and other relevant standards.Provide actionable recommendations to align OHCHR’s communications with disabilityinclusive practices, ensuring compliance with Indicator 15 of the UNDIS Accountability Framework.
Qualifications/special skills
First level degree in Communications, journalism, public relations, writing or similar degree required. Expertise in disability rights, human rights communication, or social inclusion required. Strong understanding of the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIand UN DisabilityInclusive Communications Guidelines desirable. Experience working with the UN or similar international organization desirable. Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectivels and deliver highquality evaluations within tight timelines requried.
Languages
Fluency in English required. Knowledge of another UN language an asset.
