Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the United Nations Office for Partnerships (UN Partnership. Guided by the priorities of the UN SecretaryGeneral, UN Partnerships is the gateway to the UN system to connect and cocreate partnerships to deliver solutions to reach everyone, everywhere. In its role as a connector, UN Partnerships proactively engages, convenes and leverages stakeholders, initiatives and solutions in support of the Decade of Action to keep the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals (SD. UN Partnerships oversees the SDG Advocates programme, the UN Fund for International Partnerships (UNFI, and the UN Democracy Fund (UNDE. The incumbent will support all initiatives of the office and report to the Executive Director of UN Partnerships, and work closely with other members of the team.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Chief of Service will be responsible for the following duties: • Leads, supervises and carries out the work programme of the Trust Funds of the UN Partnerships, UNDEF and UNFIP, under his/her responsibility. Coordinates the work carried out by different work units under these Trust Fund Sections; • Formulates and implements the substantive work programme of the Trust Funds covering technical cooperation in areas such as the SDGs, democracy, health, education, climate, good governance, the rule of law and protection of human rights. • Lead fundraising, resource mobilization and donor relation efforts of UNOP trust funds. Develops and implements an outreach strategy for the Trust Funds involving public information materials, related activities and website. Leads collaborations with Funders, Foundations and Implementing Partners. • Takes the lead to develop, implement and evaluate assigned programmes/projects, etc.; directs subordinates in programme/project development, implementation, monitoring and assessment; directs review of relevant documents and reports; identifies priorities, problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and initiates followup actions. • Coordinates and oversees the preparation of reports for presentation to UNOP’s Advisory Boards and intergovernmental bodies and other policymaking organs, as appropriate. Serve as key interlocutor with the Fund’s Advisory Board and plan, lead and coordinate the work of the Funds. • Produce reports to intergovernmental bodies on programme performance or on programmatic/ substantive issues, as appropriate. • Ensures that the outputs produced by the Service maintain highquality standards; that reports are clear, objective and based on comprehensive data. Ensures that all outputs produced by the Sections under his/her supervision meet required standards before completion to ensure they comply with the relevant mandates. Leads monitoring and evaluation of programmes/ projects of the Fund. • Assists the Director in preparing the work programme of the Division, determining priorities, and allocating resources for the completion of outputs and their timely delivery. • Undertakes or oversees the programmatic/administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Service, including preparation of budgets, reporting on budget/programme performance, evaluation of staff performance (PA, and preparation of inputs for resultsbased budgeting. • Leads on outreach efforts, communication tools and special events of the Fund. • Manages, guides, develops and trains staff under his/her supervision. • Fosters teamwork and communication among staff in the Service and across organizational boundaries. • Leads and supervises the organization of meetings, seminars, etc. on substantive issues. Manages the substantive preparation and organization of such meetings or seminars. • Participates in international, regional or national meetings and provides programmatic/substantive expertise on an issue, or holds programmatic/substantive and organizational discussions with representatives of other institutions. • Represents the Office at international, regional or national meetings. • Undertakes any duties as may be assigned.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalenin programme management, business or public administration, finance, accounting, social sciences or related area. A firstlevel or advanced degree (Bachelor’s or equivalenwith two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree in the specified fields of studies.

Work Experience
A minimum of fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, administration, legal or related field is required Experience building partnerships and global campaigns to directly promote SDGs is required. Experience working in an international organization with responsibility for policy planning and stakeholder engagement is required. Experience in leading grant management of UN trust funds including project monitoring and evaluation is required. Experience in successful and largescale resource mobilization at the international level with donors including Member States and nonstate partners is required. Experience in drafting, negotiating and implementing legal documents, agreements, and procurement processes of UN trust funds is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required; and knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
