JOB DESCRIPTION

Org. Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUwas established by Security Council Resolution 2476 and is mandated to promote and strengthen political stability and good governance, including the rule of law, preserving, and advancing a peaceful and stable environment, supporting an inclusive interHaitian national dialogue, and protecting and promoting human rights in Haiti. This post is located within the Transport Unit of BINUH. The driver reports to the supervisor of the unit under the overall supervision of the Transport Officer.
Responsibilities
Within the limited delegated authority and depending on location, a Driver at this level may be responsible for the following duties: • Makes deliveries of parcels, documents, etc., between BINUH and other offices and institutions, e.g., Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions, etc. • Makes minor purchases and collects urgent purchases from local suppliers as may be requested. • Drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel. • Collects and delivers mail, documents, and other items. • Meets official personnel at the airport. • Deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors. • Takes care of the daytoday maintenance of the assigned vehicles, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that vehicle is kept clean. • Performs VIP and Standby Driver duties. • Assists the workshop in the preparation of vehicles for field trips, such as changing wheels, cleaning air filters, and general checkover. • Logs fuel consumption, maintenance etc. • Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of accident. • Acts as a team lead; assigns tasks/ shifts to junior drivers. • Performs other duties as assigned

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
JobSpecific Qualification
A valid national Driving License is required.
Work Experience
Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, light passenger vehicles, sedans, or heavy and light 4×4 sports utility vehicles (SUV’, or ambulances and pickup trucks, or cargo and passenger van is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For these positions, Fluency in French is required. Knowledge of English is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competencybased interview.
