Title of project: Enhancing strategic engagement opportunities for resource mobilisation
Purpose of project (summary): This project will support UNHCR’s overall resource mobilisation efforts by facilitating strategic engagements with public sector donors and with other external interlocutors, as appropriate.
GENERAL BACKGROUND OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Located within UNHCR’s Division of External Relations, the Donor Relations and Resource Mobilization Service is a small team of passionate fundraisers bringing in and managing a significant proportion of UNHCR’s funds. The team is organized around geographical donor groups and is supported by colleagues with cross-cutting expertise (income management and financial analysis, visibility, gender, and capacity-building. A front office coordinates and facilitates the team’s work in order to maximize strategic engagement opportunities.
The assignment will have a number of diverse aspects:
– Support the convening of donor briefings / communications to donors to raise their awareness of UNHCR operations.
– Enhance and facilitate internal and external communication and information flow.
– Manage the Head of Service’s calendar of strategic engagements.
– Develop a refreshed suite of tools to support resource mobilisation by donor as needed (starting with Italy).
– Support in the production of briefing materials.
– Serve as focal point for Armenia.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT: Full-time, 100%
CONTRACT DURATION: Eight (8) months
WORK LOCATION: Geneva, Switzerland
PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:
To support resource mobilisation and relationship management work of the whole team, and as regards particular donors. The results that the contractor will secure are:
1. Well-organized calendar of engagements for the Head of Service
2. Regularly scheduled donor briefings
3. Tools have been developed to support the submission of concept notes and proposals to Italy (e.g. training materials).
4. Overview document in support of the Italy-UNHCR partnership is drafted in coordination with relevant stakeholders (Permanent Mission and others).
5. An up-to-date tracking table is in place for engagement with Italy, detailing ongoing negotiations as well as proposals and reports for these donors across the organisation.
6. An organisational statement / messaging on Value for Money, adaptable at country level, is co-drafted with the Division of Strategic Planning and Results, in consultation with other relevant HQ divisions.
7. Up to 5 operations have received tailored support to engage with Italy at their level and mobilise resources and / or report against prior contributions,.
8. The contractor may be called on to produce similar products, as needed, for other donors.
