1. iLandscape strategy for action developed presenting interested private sector/investor (national, regional and international) and how to reach the investment target of 10 million EUR. 2. 2 national/provincial events organized to facilitate private and public land use finance. 3. Technical support provided to facilitate the process of 4 MOUs endorsed with sourcing companies, and 1 MOU endorsed with financial institutions. 4. One scoping analysis of national and local financial institutions that could be supported by VN-ADAPT project.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UN-REDD Asia Pacific under the Climate Mitigation Unit (CMU) and Climate Finance Unit (CFU) are looking to engage the consultant to provide technical inputs on business market connections and private sector engagement related to forests and land use sector in Asia Pacific. The technical expert will support the project iLandscape implemented in Viet Nam and the upstarting initiative Viet Nam Nature-based Solutions for Adaptation in Agriculture through Private Sector Transformation (VN-ADAPT) in the Mekong River Delta and Central Highlands. Under the supervision of the Regional Coordinator for UN-REDD Asia Pacific and with additional guidance from the UN-REDD Global Specialist on Finance under the Climate Mitigation Unit (CMU) and Programme Management officer in Viet Nam, the consultant will deliver technical and facilitation support to the overall outcome 3 of “Total public and private financial volume investment leveraged through the project to support should increase with minimum 10 million EUR.” This includes: • Public & Private land-use finance is mapped and increasingly aligned to support sustainable land use and climate mitigation objectives. • Identify private sector/investors (national, regional or international) to assess willingness to invest in prioritized activities or technologies related to identified sustainable agricultural systems and NBS and innovative financial instruments such as green bonds, blended finance and de-risking instruments, carbon markets and other climate financing tools. • Engage with multinational companies and stakeholders from the private sector, leveraging ESG investment trends and carbon credit systems to facilitate capital inflow. • Connect and engage with interested private sector/investor (national, regional and international) and support the process of MoUs with sourcing companies and financial institutions The consultant will also support in the preparation activities related to outcome 3 of the VN-ADAPT project “Leveraging Private and Public Innovation & Investment in NbSA (Nature-based Solutions for Adaptation)”. • Scoping analysis of national and local financial institutions/investors operating in the Mekong River Delta and Central Highlands regions. This is including financial institutions/investors’ profiles, such as size, capacity, priorities (e.g. sectors, clients), target client size, risk appetite, any past activities/products/commitment/internal policies/interest in investing in NbSA.
Qualifications/special skills
Education: • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) degree in finance, economics, environmental science, development studies or related subjects is required. • A first-level university degree level in the above-mentioned fields, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: • A minimum of five years in roles related to private sector engagement, sustainability consulting, financial and economic analysis with a focus on agriculture, forestry, and other land-based activities is required. • Experience working on the Paris Agreement article 6 is desirable. • Experience of working in Viet Nam country level on finance is required. Skills: • Ability to advise on business engagement and provide economic analysis of forestry and sustainable land use models is required. • Strong communication skills and ability to convey key messages is required. • Ability to identify priority activities is required. • A demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations, knowledge of the United Nations system and a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter is desirable

• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consulting position, fluency in oral and written English is required
