Job overview:
The finance assistant will help implement and monitor NRC’s financial book keeping activities in the north region area office, focusing specially Mazar-e-Sharif area. The finance assistant role is to assist in day to day implementation of financial book keeping and recording as defined.

Generic responsibilities
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated
- Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support is being provided, in order to be most effective in supporting the team
- Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Ensure proper filing of documents
- Promote and share ideas for improvement in the area of Livelihoods and Food Security
Specific responsibilities
- Review the supporting documentation of vouchers such as Purchase Request, Purchase Orders and other implementing documents and make the necessary corrections as needed regarding the project numbers, account number or other information and billing disputes.
- Verify calculations of the amounts claimed for payment and submit to the budget holder for authorization to proceed with the payment process.
- Responsible for cash payments and advance clearances.
- Request the area office forecast needs from Kabul and transfer to field offices when needed.
- Translation of receipts and any other finance related document when required.
- Prepare vouchers as requested.
- Maintain the record of all cash and bank transactions.
- Cash counts and computed with Bank Statement.
- Cash distribution to the NRC beneficiaries when required.
- Cash withdrawals from the bank if when required.
- Maintain proper filing system both hard and soft by digitalizing all financial documents
- Maintain complete files for all pending and processed payments for audit
- Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Context related skills, knowledge and experience:
- Minimum Bachelor Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Business Management and Accounting is required.
- Minimum two years of experience in finance and accounting with a satisfactory performance with reputational organizations, preferably with UN or INGOs is required.
- Good written and spoken Dari/Pashto. Good spoken English.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
