Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located within the UNAMA Mine Action Section and is based in Kabul. The Data Analysis Assistant reports to the Chief Mine Action Section (CMAP) in UNAMA.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Data Analysis Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: • Contributes to the preparation of reports and maps on explosive ordnance contamination, based on organizational needs and requirements for reporting and analysis. • Supports senior staff in the Mine Action Technical Cell (MATC) and the Directorate for Mine Action Coordination (DMAC) on process improvement mechanisms related to the Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA). • Contributes to the preparation of data sets, being responsible for the collation and analysis of data from primary and secondary data systems and documents data sets used. • Contributes to the maintenance and upgrade of IMSMA, contributes to data collection projects, products, tools and processes to extend the capabilities of client offices. • Contributes to the collection and analysis of data and identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Documents requirements and background information used for data analysis. • Contributes to the identification and analysis of patterns in data sets using various methods. • Prepares mine action data sets for various cross-sector information management coordination groups; responds to queries/requests and maintains/updates mine action dashboards. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Experience
A minimum of (7) years of progressively responsible relevant experience in data analysis, including at least 2 years in data science, data analytics, applied mathematics, information management, or a related field, is required. Five years of relevant experience with a first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of seven years’ experience. At least two years’ experience with information management systems is required. Experience with IMSMA is desirable.
Languages
For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Fluency in either Dari or Pashto is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
