JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Under the overall supervision of the Supply Chain Officer in Uganda and direct supervision of National Supply Chain Officer, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for providing necessary support to RMU, and all Programmes in Uganda. The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities

  1. Carry out clerical tasks to support the smooth running of activities in the Unit.
  2. Monitor stock level of consumables, supplies, and other materials needed by the office and alert on the need to restock.
  3. Assist in fleet management in the mission: coordinate drivers’ movements; verify all logbooks are properly maintained and monitor fuel consumption and vehicle’ maintenance records.
  4. Support the organization of meetings, workshops, trainings.
  5. Follow up on contractors doing work on the office premises.
  6. Conduct regular inspection of office premises and verify functionality of the entire office and equipment.
  7. Drive assigned IOM’s vehicle.
  8. Arrange for minor repairs and verify that the vehicles are kept clean.
  9. Follow-up that the vehicles undertake regular service intervals
  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education
  • High school diploma with three years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant professional experience.
  • Valid national driver’s license.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
  • Experience in procurement and logistics and working with vendors and service providers;
  • Experience with asset management process;
  • Experience working with IOM/UN Procurement and Logistics Rules and Procedures is an advantage
  • Experience working in an international organization an advantage.

Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.

Skills
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Knowledge of SAP highly desirable
  • Ability to work with national and international institutions.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Languages
  • Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
