About this position

The Resource Mobilization Division (REM) plays a pivotal role in leading the mobilization of additional financing and innovative financial instruments from donors and partners to public and private interventions in the IDB Group, in coordination with the Vice Presidencies of Countries (VPC), Sectors (VPS), and Finance and Administration (VPF), as well as with IDB Invest, IDB Lab, and other relevant units. In recent years, the team has multiplied its efforts to develop and manage partners from the private and emerging sectors towards the creation and promotion of new investment opportunities in and for the Latin American and Caribbean region (LAC) while maintaining and strengthening relations with the traditional public partners.

We are looking for a consultant to provide comprehensive technical and operational support to the Resource Mobilization Division Chief across three functional groups within the REM Division. This role will focus on enhancing the IDB Group’s partnerships and outreach strategies, in close coordination with other IDB Group units, ensuring alignment with our strategic priorities.

 

What you’ll do

You will be joining the cross-sectorial team responsible for developing and implementing partnerships and resource mobilization strategies and action plans for climate and biodiversity finance as well as innovative resource mobilization instruments such as credit substitution guarantees and hybrid capital, providing technical advice and formalizing purposeful partnerships in close coordination with other IDB Group units while ensuring alignment with the IDB Group’s strategy and priorities.

  • Strengthen and extend the IDB Group’s strategic alliances and dialogue with our existing key stakeholders based on a systematic analysis of their context and priorities.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary working groups to develop and implement new partnerships supporting to position IDB Group as a global leader and partner of choice while ensuring alignment with the IDB Group’s strategy and priorities.
  • Expand our partners’ base by developing outreach strategies and action plans for new segments such as philanthropies and non-IDB member countries.
  • Support the technical teams in managing the partner/donor relationship during the execution phase of existing partnerships.
  • Enhance and scale up existing mobilization efforts by further expanding engagement with partners, including companies, foundations, universities, and non-government organizations, and identifying and mapping other new key private players in the development community.
  • Develop and implement partnerships and resource mobilization strategies and proposals for innovative financial instruments with donors such as credit substitution guarantees and hybrid capital.
  • Produce and present reports on results and metrics of external outreach and/or stakeholder management efforts as appropriate in coordination with relevant departments.
  • Support the production of key high-level events and seminars as appropriate.
  • Contribute to efforts shaping the IDB Group’s resource mobilization strategy and partnership—or product-specific strategies.

What you’ll need

Education: A minimum master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in business administration, finance, economics, communication, international development, international relationships, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.

Experience: At least four years of relevant professional experience

Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Knowledge of an additional official Bank language (Portuguese and French) is a plus.

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
