Mission and objectives
UNDP works in 170 countries and territories to eradicate poverty while protecting the planet. We help countries develop strong policies, skills, partnerships and institutions so they can sustain their progress The primary and overarching objective of United Nations Development Programme in Kenya is the eradication of poverty in the context of sustainable development, including the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, and promotion of United Nations fundamental principles. A core dimension to the work of UNDP in Kenya is on Democratic Governance given the national focus on governance reforms. UNDP supports the country’s efforts towards achieving the Vision 2030 Political Pillar, which envisions a democratic system that is issue-based, people-centered, results oriented and accountable to the public. This Political Pillar gears to transform the country’s political governance across five strategic areas; The Rule of Law, Electoral and Political Processes, Democracy and Public Service Delivery, Transparency and Accountability, Security Peace Building and Conflict Management. These strategic areas are anchored in the Constitution, promulgated in August 2010 marking a major milestone in the democratic journey of Kenya and set a new threshold in terms of people-centred development.
Context
The Africa Centre of Competence for Digital and Artificial Intelligence Skilling is a regional initiative focused on improving the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) skills of public servants across Africa. It offers training, resources, and support to enhance governance and public service delivery using emerging digital and AI technologies. The Africa Centre of Competence for Digital and Artificial Intelligence Skilling also aims to encourage innovation and experimentation within the public sector by promoting a mindset shift among public servants and guiding them in the transition to digital government. Online volunteers will play a critical role in increasing public awareness of the centre which aims to equip public servants across African government entities with vital digital skills to improve governance and public service delivery.
Task Description
The 200 Online Volunteers will be responsible for: 1. Develop campaign posts with platform-specific language for LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. 2. Create and share infographics, fact cards, and visuals on digital and AI skills development. 3. Schedule daily posts across all platforms to maintain consistent visibility. 4. Engage with followers by liking, sharing, and replying to comments. 5. Use and promote campaign hashtags (e.g., #AfricaDigitalCentre, #AIforAfrica). 6. Monitor comments and questions to foster interaction and answer inquiries. 7. Host Instagram/Facebook Stories showcasing the Centre’s impact. 8. Publish LinkedIn articles with in-depth insights on the Centre’s goals and outcomes. 9. Tag and mention key stakeholders (e.g., influencers, tech partners) to expand reach. 10. Share testimonials and success stories from beneficiaries and volunteers. 11. Run polls and Q&As to engage followers on topics of digital transformation. 12. Engage tech influencers and partners to reshare content and boost visibility. 13. Weekly highlights and updates summarizing the Centre’s progress and achievements. 14. Promote events and webinars related to AI and digital skills training. 15. Collect and post short video testimonials from participants and stakeholders. 16. Reshare relevant content on digital transformation and AI from credible sources. 17. Conduct A/B testing on content types (e.g., carousels vs. single images). 18. Post educational content on digital skills and the importance of AI in Africa. 19. Monitor engagement analytics and optimize content based on performance. 20. Feature weekly facts or statistics about Africa’s digital transformation efforts. 21. Create myth-busting posts to address misconceptions about AI and digital skills. Selected Online Volunteers will be provided with information and material relevant and necessary to perform the task such the designed card containing the message and #hashtags to be share. Selected online volunteer will be also added to a WhatsApp’s group for a better collaboration.
