This position is based at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) – Noordwijk, Netherlands

The Industrial Audit team performs cost audits on the Industries working with ESA and is responsible for a wide range of audit activities. These include: the agreement of rates that Industry will use when doing business with ESA; auditing the cost incurred in ESA contracts; assessing the financial viability and nationality of companies; assisting in price negotiations and review of financial proposals for ESA contracts. The team’s vision is to provide high-quality audit services that achieve cost effectiveness and value creation.

Field(s) of activity for the internship

Topic of the internship: Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Data Analysis for cost audits

During the period of internship you will be faced mainly with the following tasks:

  • Identify areas where AI can enhance audit process;
  • Develop a strategic plan for AI implementation in auditing;
  • Communicate the benefits and implications of AI to stakeholders;
  • Gathering requirements from various stakeholders to ensure AI solutions meet their needs;
  • Researching and evaluating AI tools suited for audit processes;
  • Select the appropriate AI technology;
  • Ensure data quality, consistency and accessibility for AI applications;
  • Ensure AI application complies with relevant ESA regulations and standards;
  • Implement and conduct pilot project to test AI applications in real audit scenarios;
  • Monitoring and validating AI model performance and making necessary adjustments;
  • Develop policies and procedures, as well as training material;
  • Generate reports and present findings to management and stakeholders.

Education

You must be a university student, preferably in your final or second-to-last year of a university course at Master’s level and you need to remain enrolled at your University for the entire duration of the internship.

Additional requirements

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

Knowledge and background in Business economics is an asset.
