The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of approximately 250 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.
CSIS GHPC seeks a highly motivated Program Coordinator to support the Center’s work. This position will focus on executing activities that play a key role in advancing GHPC’s major initiatives and objectives, particularly administrative support for the pandemic preparedness and response and climate and health portfolios. They also will support the organizational work of the directors and other GHPC staff.
The ideal candidate will have an educational and/or professional background in global health/health and some experience in project coordination. They should be able to work concurrently on multiple activities and projects and be adaptive and reflexive to changing operational needs. They must be able to multi-task, seek clarification and guidance as appropriate, prioritize competing demands, and effectively communicate.
The salary band for this position is $55,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Provide administrative support to the Global Health Policy Center staff, including support in the coordination of logistics for events, meetings, conferences, and other activities as assigned, and drafting correspondence.
• Support the promotion of GHPC content through social media management and mailing campaigns.
• Communicate verbally or in writing with CSIS and external partners.
• Schedule and provide calendar management support for the directors, including review of meeting requests and schedule coordination.
• Support and arrange travel plans, documents, and itineraries.
• Complete expense reports for the director and maintains electronic receipts.
• Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Global Health, International Relations, International Development, Public Policy/Administration, or related field.
• Must have demonstrated knowledge of and interest in global health, policies, programs, and stakeholders.
• Work experience in a policy focused non-profit or think tank preferred.
• PC literate, specifically MS Office, and familiarity with web-based tools.
• Experience with social media in a professional setting preferred.
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively present information.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess a self-starting, entrepreneurial mind-set and be able to work well independently and in teams.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS:
This position will be based out of our Washington DC headquarters and is expected to be in-office.
