JOB DESCRIPTION

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a highly qualified Advocacy Specialist (Political Analyst) to join our team in Kyiv.

About the job

As a Political Analyst, your role will involve closely monitoring and analyzing political developments within the region to understand their potential impact on humanitarian operations. You will be responsible for providing expert insight and strategic advice on the political landscape, including key stakeholders, policy changes, and potential impacts on humanitarian efforts.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Tracking and analyzing political trends, policies, and developments in Ukraine.
  • Assessing the potential impact of political decisions on the organization’s humanitarian mission.
  • Providing timely reports, briefings, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Building relationships with key political actors, government officials, and civil society organizations.
  • Contributing to the organization’s advocacy efforts
  • Collaborating with other team members to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the political context.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 3-4 years of experience in political science, international relations, or a related field. Moreover, we expect the following:

  • Ideal candidates for this position should have a deep understanding of Ukrainian politics, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and communicate complex information effectively.

  • Fluency in both Ukrainian and English is required.

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s Degree in political science, international relations or related field

We offer

  • Contract length: Open-ended contract depending on performance and funding after successful completion of 3 months’ probation period.
