BACKGROUND:
Dubai Humanitarian operates within a network of intergovernmental humanitarian hubs, prioritizing proactive emergency preparedness and response. By leveraging innovation, effective communication, and actionable knowledge, Dubai Humanitarian collaborates closely with governments and global partners to amplify their impact on sustainable humanitarian efforts. PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:
The Head of Partnerships at Dubai Humanitarian is pivotal in bridging partnerships and advocacy to foster cohesive and impactful strategies. This position focuses on cultivating strong relationships across diverse sectors, including the private sector, government, academia, and business councils. Embracing Dubai’s dynamic market and its diverse initiatives, the role is poised to identify and implement innovative solutions that enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian efforts. This commitment advances Dubai Humanitarian’s values of leadership, efficiency, collaboration, and innovation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive partnership strategies to enhance and expand partnerships aligned with Dubai Humanitarian’s overall strategy and goals.
- Identify and secure new partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including private sector entities, governmental bodies, academic institutions, and business councils.
- Strategically position Dubai Humanitarian and its partners through tailored local and international engagement and advocacy initiatives.
- Effectively advocate Dubai Humanitarian’s positions with stakeholders to influence relevant policy agendas.
- Collaborate on joint advocacy initiatives with the UAE government and partners to advance common humanitarian priorities.
- Manage and nurture partner relationships to ensure cohesive collaboration and sustained engagement across initiatives. Guide partnership processes, including proposal writing, donor engagement, and partnership agreement management.
- Work closely with the communications and advocacy team to integrate tailored partnership visibility within the communications and advocacy strategy, targeting local and international audiences to elevate partnership visibility and reputation through a strategic win-win approach.
- Oversee the creation of partner-specific communications and advocacy content and tools to support partnerships efforts and maintain brand consistency.
- Leverage insights from market analysis to inform partnership strategies and enhance organizational impact.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions that enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian efforts.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and refining partnership strategies and processes.
- Introduce training and capacity-building initiatives for internal teams and partners to strengthen partnership engagement and management capabilities.
- Report on partnership outcomes and provide strategic recommendations for future engagements.
- Perform any other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
- Advanced University degree in a relevant field such as International Relations, Political Sciences, Communications, Journalism, Marketing communications, or another related field. Alternatively, a First University Degree with additional years of related work experience
Knowledge & Skills:
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in communications, partnership or related field.
- Ability to strategically position Dubai Humanitarian and its partners through tailored engagement and advocacy strategies for UAE/GCC audiences.
- In-depth understanding of the UAE market dynamics, including key stakeholders, regulatory environment, and business practices.
- An established network of local and regional key stakeholders across sectors relevant to humanitarian efforts is a clear advantage.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex partnerships and negotiating agreements.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in communications and advocacy is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Languages:
- Fluency in both English and Arabic (written and spoken).
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- This is an International Professional position and is open to all nationalities.
- The selected candidate will be employed on a limited fixed-term contract of 2 years renewable.
- Limited Fixed-Term Appointment (LFT) position is a non-mobile staff appointment in the international professional category for a limited period of up to 4 years. The position is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the selected candidate will be expected to relocate. Incumbents of LFT positions are not eligible to apply for other mobile positions advertised internally through the Reassignment.
- WFP offers an attractive compensation and benefits package in line with ICSC standards (http://icsc.un.org) including basic salary, post adjustment, relocation entitlement, visa, travel and shipment allowances, 30 days’ annual leave, home leave, an education grant for dependent children, a pension plan, and medical insurance.
