IRC Poland: On 8 February 2022 three IRC staff arrived in Poland to initiate scoping of local and national actors in Warsaw, Lublin, and Rzeszow as well as across the Western, Central, and Eastern regions in Ukraine. When on 24 February Russian troops entered eastern Ukraine with the aim of toppling the government led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and conflict-affected individuals started fleeing to neighboring countries, the IRC established a presence in Poland to build partnerships with local state, civil society, and private sector actors to respond to needs of arriving refugees. As of April 26, over 5.3 million people have fled Ukraine seeking safety with nearly 50% (2.9 million) of those displaced fleeing to Poland. Reports indicate almost all arrivals in Poland are women and children, including those that are unaccompanied and separated, as well as older persons. IRC Poland’s goal is to ensure the survival of emergency-affected people in a way that enables their safety, dignity, and empowerment. Working in the program areas of economic recovery and development and safety, the IRC will accomplish this by working to see that 1) People affected by the war in Ukraine are able to meet their immediate and basic needs with safety and dignity and avoid harmful coping mechanisms and 2) People affected by the war in Ukraine are protected and supported to recover from the consequences of violence and displacement through equitable access to services and information.

JOB OVERVIEW:

The International Rescue Committee is looking for an energetic, resourceful, and well-organized job matcher to support the work of the employment activation team in Warsaw. Experience in the humanitarian sector and a proactive attitude are welcome.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively matching candidates with suitable employment opportunities. Obtaining job offers and contacting employers.
  • Seeking opportunities to improve competences and retrain.
  • Creating a database of contacts and maintaining relationships with organizations and employers.
  • Conducting workshops on looking for employment on the Polish labor market
  • Preparing a CV and cover letter for project participants
  • Prepare clients for job interviews and employment orientations.
  • Research potential training programs and trends in Mazovian Voivodship.
  • Preparing reports and presentations and presenting them at ERD team meetings
  • Support the business outreach process and represent the IRC in external job fairs and networking meetings.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date database of job seekers, including their skills, experience, and preferences.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date database of job offers, supplementing it through constant contact with employers,
  • Attend industry events, job fairs, and networking functions to expand the NGO’s reach and enhance collaboration with potential employers.
  • Promote the NGO’s mission and the benefits of private sector engagement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Career Counseling, Pedagogy, Sociology, Psychology, International Relations or related to working with people
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a job broker, job coach
  • Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
  • Searching for job offers through direct contact with employers.
  • Experience in project implementation as a job intermediary in the humanitarian sector (NGO)
  • Welcome: knowledge of labor law, knowledge of issues related to the employment of refugees
  • Flexibility in action and a high level of empathy
  • Independence in action and commitment to the duties performed,
  • Ease of establishing and maintaining interpersonal contacts,
  • Knowledge of the Warsaw labor market,
  • High interpersonal skills (communicativeness, ease of establishing contacts, ability to negotiate, motivate)
  • Ability to search for and obtain job offers,
  • Ability to create professional application documents,
  • Proven ability to work well in and promote teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure with professional grace.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Position Reports to: ERD Job Counsellor Senior Officer

Works closely with:

  • Internal: Other ERD team members, IRC Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) staff, Finance and Supply Chain.
  • External: IRC’s partner organizations, local municipalities and CSOs, and other community stakeholders; other practitioners in the field as needed.
