JOB DESCRIPTION

Background:

The Press and Public Information Unit (PPI) of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Mission) is seeking the services of a professional Graphic Designer/DTP Operator to support its activities by creating high-quality graphic materials. The Mission aims to enhance public outreach across all sectors by utilizing infographics and statistical data to effectively highlight its work to wider external audiences.

Objective of Assignment:

The Mission would like to engage a Graphic Designer/DTP Operator who will provide expert advice, design, and develop visual tools that represent the Mission’s activities and mandate across all sectors and sections.

Duration of Assignment:

As needed.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the National Spokesperson (NP3), the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:

1. Designing and updating graphic materials and templates for web, print, and distribution, including but not limited to leaflets, posters, infographics, reports, roll ups, brochures, and all outreach materials;

2. Creating and updating graphic materials and templates for the Mission’s website, social media channels, and online campaigns, such as slideshows, banners, and infographics;

3. Developing graphic materials and visual identity for the Mission’s public campaigns and initiatives;

4. Providing recommendations for visualizing the Mission’s information and content, as well as suggestions to diversify the existing range of graphic materials;

5. Staying up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media;

6. Ensuring sufficient and appropriate visibility of the Mission’s brand through proper use of logos, brand colours, and tagline across all communication assets;

7. Editing graphics, such as photographs or illustrations;

8. Importing text and graphics into publishing software;

9. Integrating images and text to create cohesive pages;

10. Adjusting text properties, such as size, column width, and spacing;

11. Revising layouts and make corrections as necessary;

12. Submitting or uploading final files for print, online publication, or digital distribution.

Deliverables:

  • Drafts of designs and materials are produced in a timely manner, before the deadlines decided upon by the PPI (the first draft is ready for review no later than three working days);
  • Edits to designs and materials requested by PPI are implemented in a timely manner (no later than in three working days);
  • Designs and produced materials are consistent with the OSCE Visual Manual.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Secondary education;
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience and professional skills in graphic design, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Publisher Adobe InDesign;
  • Previous experience in producing graphic materials and illustrations for non-profit organizations, international organizations, projects and/or campaigns;
  • Proven expertise in colour correction & photo manipulation;
  • Working knowledge of English;
  • Professional fluency in local languages (both Cyrillic & Latin script) with excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Experience in working with printing houses and other print media professionals.

Remuneration Package:

Remuneration will be based on the selected consultant’s/expert’s qualifications, experience, the tasks and deliverables for this position and in accordance with the OSCE established rates.
