- Role and responsibilities
The purpose of the Finance assistant position is to contribute in the day-to-day implementation of the finance unit responsibilities
Generic responsibilities
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Assist a range of support with the implementation of the Finance portfolio according to plan of action
- Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which assistance and support are being provided, in order to be most effective in supporting the team
- Ensure proper filing of documents
Specific responsibilities
- Responsible for petty cash payments & ensure that the cash payments are correctly recorded in cashboxes and cash count is conducted on daily basis.
- Responsible for clearing all suppliers’ payments, including Checking of all supporting documents in compliance with NRC rules and regulations and local laws.
- Responsible for issuing cheques and bank transfers for Gaza Office payments.
- Prepare all Gaza Post-backs for Banks & cash.
- Prepare salary transfers & ensure correct booking of projects, accounts, and amounts.
- Follow up with logistics on payments supporting documents
- Responsible for the follow-up and settlements of advances and travel claims.
- Responsible for Banks reconciliation for Gaza office
- Responsible for finance backlog/SSD.
- Responsible for photocopying, scanning, and archiving Finance documents in the file systems.
- Responsible for NRC Finance files.
- Stamp all invoices by Paid and donor Stamps
- Undertake any other reasonable task assigned by management

- Experience from working as a Finance Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- At least one year of experience in same position.
- Very Good command of English and Arabic, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Hebrew language is preferred.
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, Finance and Accounting or any related field
- Relevant work experience with Agresso is desirable
- Experience with computers, particularly Excel and database programs.
- Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential
- Ability to work under pressure and independently
