JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission (COM) and the Head of Migrant Protection and Assistance Unit, and under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Associate (Legal Counselling), the incumbent will be responsible for provision comprehensive legal support to Ukrainian refugees, with a focus on addressing the information and inclusion-related needs of diverse groups.

1.Provide information and conduct individual counselling sessions for Ukrainian refugees on legal matters particularly relevant to long-term inclusion in Slovakia (e.g. temporary protection,
migration rights and obligations, family reunification). Conduct initial assessment of needs and provide background information for individual cases of beneficiaries.
2. Collaborate with the Migration Information Centre (MIC) to complement this work through comprehensive services that address the diverse information needs of target groups using a multichannel approach.
3. Support the operation of physical MIC centres in Bratislava and Kosice and ER mobile teams that address inclusion-related needs in coordination with housing, health, and protection activities, as well as the MIC website, info-line, social media platforms, and regular community events across the country.
4. Disseminate critical and updated information on inclusion, legal matters, and protection through these channels to assist beneficiaries in their integration process.
5. Inform and assist social rights-related caseload matters, (e.g. registration, applying for social support, housing, employment, medical services, other personal needs),
6. Support (where applicable) the information units envisaged by the current legislation.
7. Prepare records on individual cases, performs case management and maintain client’s folders.
8. Monitor websites for updates and new legislation with regards to labour mobility.
9. Support legal analysis and statements to relevant laws and other legal documents.
10. Collect and regularly update relevant data and legal documents in a database of information related to inclusion of migrants in Slovakia.
11. Assist in development of information materials and other supporting documents for target groups;
12. Monitor and assist in updating the MIC website, including insertion of updates, communication with website service provider.
13. Assist in preparation of various visibility materials in form of presentations, photos, articles, short films, or others.
14. Perform general office maintenance tasks including correspondence, market surveys; logistics, and procurement of technical equipment and office supplies.
15. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience, or
• School diploma with five years of relevant experience.
EXPERIENCE
-Experience in migration Law;
-Experience in preparing legal documents;
-Experience in writing and editing articles;
-Experience in project administration;
-Experience in preparing presentations;
-Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, vulnerable groups is an advantage;
-Experience in developing and implementing project activities related to migration issues is an advantage.

SKILLS
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with a team;
• Excellent orientation in social, labour and migration law of the Slovak Republic and human rights law;
• Driving licence B is an advantage.

Language:
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in English and Ukrainian languages is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of Slovak is an advantage.
