FUNCTION:
The Communications and Knowledge Management Manager will serve in accordance with Heifer Bangladesh’s vision, goal, objectives, policies, and procedures. The primary purpose of the Communications and Knowledge Management Manager is to ensure the provision of high-quality communications, knowledge management, development of brand identity, and increase Heifer’s visibility to support Bangladesh signature programs and priorities. The Manager will ensure effective internal and external communication, design and publish communication materials, provide knowledge management and documentation, among other duties. In addition, s/he will develop and manage reputational risk matrices, support resource mobilization and program development initiatives, and collaborate with the signature program team as well as Heifer Asia and Global Communication Teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES: (including approximate percentage effort) Internal and External Communication (40%):
- Prepare and implement communication strategy and plan for Heifer Bangladesh and its projects.
- Develop visibility and communication materials (documents, video, audio messages, presentation deck, media kit, etc.).
- Collaborate with Country Programs and Resource Mobilization teams and ensure dissemination of visibility and communication materials to donors/partners/ government organizations/stakeholders, etc., and keep the Global Communication Team fully informed.
- Share signature project progress and achievements in various forums (including Heifer International intranet) to enhance visibility.
- Showcase project progress and achievements to visitors (national and international) via field trips.
- Manage visibility within office premises (walls, reception area, meeting halls, etc.).
- Documentation and Knowledge Management (35%)Prepare and implement Heifer Bangladesh knowledge management plan.
- Ensure the development and dissemination of Heifer’s publications, e.g., newsletter, annual report, project flyers, success stories, case studies, best practices, lessons learned, and others as needed.
- Ensure that digital copies of knowledge materials (including photo, video, audio, and print materials) are easily accessible and update them regularly.
- Support Resource Mobilization staff to develop pitch narratives, capacity statements, and communication materials in close collaboration with country programs and MEL teams.
- Work closely with Programs and M&E teams to package project progress/result data as appropriate.
- Develop knowledge management documents and messaging to position the organization among wider stakeholders including development partners and government entities.
- Build the capacity of project staff and engage them in documentation and knowledge management.
Media mobilization (10%)
- Develop relationships and network with international, national, and local media, journalists, and publication houses for greater visibility of the organization.
- Positively impact the media so that they play a role in raising Heifer’s profile and brand awareness.
- Prepare press releases, news, blogs, and event reports and ensure transmission and coverage in appropriate print/visual/audio/online media.
- Manage Heifer Bangladesh’s website and all social media sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
Branding, marketing, and event management (10%)
- Develop/update brand and communication guidelines for Heifer Bangladesh and its projects following Heifer’s branding policy.
- Ensure proper branding of Heifer in all visibility materials including branding of projects and project partners, collaborators, etc.
- Coordinate and support organizing national and international campaigns, events, workshops, etc.
- Develop and manage the Heifer Bangladesh risk matrix using the framework provided by the Global Communication team.
May perform other job-related duties as assigned (5%) QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in Mass Communication, Journalism, or relevant field plus five (5) years of relevant experience, OR
- A master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university in Mass Communication, Journalism, or relevant field will be preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills including strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets PowerPoint, excel, photoshop, designing software, video editing, web designing, and desktop publishing.
- Ability to initiate and cultivate relationships with media personnel and journalists.
