The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) – Geneva Representation office – is currently seeking a Senior Finance Officer to work at 50% – 70% within the Support Service team in the Geneva Representation servicing the Geneva Representation along with Geneva Hosted Entities (HEs).

About the job

Your job will be to fulfil daily accounting tasks and assist in coordinating financial functions and services including producing relevant financial previsions and reports on a regular basis.

Your key responsibilities include:

Transfers and payments

  • Ensure all payments are made timely and in accordance with existing DRC forms
  • Ensure all payments meet the requirements of National Law and engage with authorities, tax advisors or other stakeholders to ensure tax requirements are met accordingly
  • Ensure that payment documents comply with DRC internal financial procedures and donor regulations
  • Ensure proper transfer of funds from DRC HQ in Copenhagen to Geneva.

Accounting

  • Ensure all expenses enter the DRC Dynamics in time and of highest quality
  • Ensure to update cashbooks daily to reflect the actual status of existing cash count and bank balance in all currencies
  • Ensure all bank accounts statements are reconciled
  • Ensure proper filing system for financial documents
  • Reconcile accounts payable’s and balance accounts on a monthly basis

Budget control, planning and reporting

  • Ensure the implementation of shared cost tools
  • Liaise with hosted entities on regular budget monitoring
  • Prepare and use budget control tools for regular budget follow up
  • Prepare and assist in issuing donor reports
  • Support the development of new proposals with financial information for budgeting
  • Ensure cashbooks and journals are posted bi-weekly
  • Monthly financial report (budget follow-ups)
  • Correctly use DRC Dynamics functionalities in area of concern

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have relevant experience in a similar role, and more importantly that you are proactive and quick to learn. Specifically, we are looking for:

Required:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in financial/accounting field
  • University Degree in Finance/Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent professional

qualification

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Basic proficiency in PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure of deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experience in working in (I)NGOs

We offer

Contract length: Open ended contract from December onward, the position will be at 50% – 70% and is pending funding. The position is flexible with possibility to work partly remotely withing Switzerland.

Band: H – officer level (non-management), from 7’480, – CHF at 100% capacity.

Start date: December 2024
