JOB DESCRIPTION

Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Warehouse and Commodity Management Section of the United Nations Missions in South Sudan (UNMISS), Torit. The Fuel Assistant will report to Fuel Supervisor or his/ her designated official.
Responsibilities
Within the delegated authority of Fuel Supervisor, the Supply Assistant (Fuel) will be responsible for the following duties: – Assists the Fuel Unit in the process of managing the supply of fuel to the assigned locations, including Sector HQ’s, Team Sites, and TCC/ PCC Unit locations including the administration of outsourced contracts for petroleum, oils and Lubricants (POL) and related services. – Assists in monitoring of POL stocks in fuel depots; conduct regular fuel stock taking and oils & lubricants inventory; informs the supervisor on discrepancies observed and on POL products which require stock replenishment in a timely manner. – Assists in raising requests for the Contractor services required by the TCC/PCC POL stores; coordinates with MSC/Sections about the requests received. Provide updates of requests status on a regular basis. – Assists in reviewing and reporting stock holdings and project product requirements ensuring that each assigned location maintains adequate reserves and operational stocks at all times. – Assists in comparing actual POL consumption with standard consumption of equipment and report on any excessive or inconsistent consumption. – Assists in monitoring of fuel usage by TCC/PCC Units by location, analyzing and investigating any major abnormal fuel consumption by using Electronic Fuel Management System (EFMS-2); – Assists in monthly inspections conducting, identifies issues and implements solutions as instructed by the supervisor. – Assists in processing of POL requests received from TCC/ PCC Units and forwarding these requests to the Contractor for action. – Assists in preparing of stock inventory reports from the system. – Maintains and monitors relevant database (e.g. stock levels of various POL products). Provide assistance on technical matters to the supervisor. – Performs other duties as required.

Education
High School diploma or equivalence of appropriate vocational qualifications in petroleum, oil and lubricants handling is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
Have a valid general driving license is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in petroleum, oil and lubricants operations, storage or supply distribution, processing or management, client support or POL management is required. The minimum year of relevant experience is reduced to one (1) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Languages
English is the working language of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
