Mission and objectives
WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that was established in July 1946 and whose objective is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health. WHO’s primary role is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system. WHO’s main areas of work are health systems; health through the life-course; noncommunicable and communicable diseases; preparedness, surveillance and response.
Context
The UN Community Volunteer, under the direct supervision of the Health Policy advisor, provides a full range of technical assistance to all the activities within the tasks. We seek a motivated Climate Change Communications and Outreach Volunteer to join our team and support our communications efforts. This UNV assignment is ideal for an enthusiastic individual passionate about digital media and health promotion; and will work closely with the Communications Team to manage and grow our social media presence, assist in content creation, and engage with our audience online.
Task Description
The UN Community Volunteer will: 1. Assist in managing and updating the organization’s social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) to ensure timely and engaging content. 2. Contribute to the creation, planning, and execution of social media campaigns to increase awareness and engagement with target audiences. 3. Capture high-quality photos and videos at events and activities, ensuring content aligns with organizational branding and messaging. 4. Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and other interactions across social media platforms.
Competencies and values
– Familiarity with major social media platforms and best practices. – Basic photography skills and a creative eye for visual content. – Strong written and verbal communication skills. – Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment. – Previous experience or internship in social media or digital marketing is a plus.
Living conditions and remarks
This assignment is part-time. The UN Volunteer will be based in Baku, Azerbaijan and responsible for arranging her/his own housing and other living essentials. The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. Contingent on specific eligibility criteria, location of the volunteer assignment, and contractual type and category, the payment of allowances will begin from the date of Commencement of Service.
