Job Description
There’s something special about spending your days alongside like-minded people, just as committed to purposeful work as you. At Save the Children Australia, we attract bright and big-hearted people who are inspired to make a difference. Together, we are fearless in our pursuit of making lasting change for the children and communities who need it most.

Save the Children and 54 reasons: A place where your purpose matters.

Are you a people person with a deep understanding of international aid and development and insight into Australian politics and policy-making? Do you enjoy international travel, can you think on your feet, be doggedly persistent about finding solutions to problems, and are you happy to roll up your sleeves to do what’s needed to get a job done? If so, you could be the perfect fit to be the next Manager, Australian Regional Leadership Initiative (ARLI) Delegations.

A place to make a difference:

In this full-time permanent role, you’ll work as a part of our Government Relations team in either Melbourne or Canberra to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. The Manager – Australian Regional Leadership Initiative (ARLI) Delegations plays an important role in delivering on our vision of a better world for children by helping to engage and educate Australian parliamentarians, philanthropists, and influential stakeholders on the impact and value of Australia’s foreign aid and development programs. In doing so, you’ll be contributing to our commitment to children in Australia, the Pacific and around the world.

You will make a difference by:

· Develop a project plan for future delegations (normally two per year), including identifying key stakeholders to invite.

· Design well-modulated, impactful 4-5 day program itineraries for each delegation, working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including the aid and development sector, multilateral institutions, the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), Save the Children country offices and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

· Support the CEO (or other member of the Executive) to lead the delegation and ensure seamless and professional delivery of program visits.

·Contribute to mapping, and continuous review and updating of, the attitudes and influence of Australian parliamentarians, philanthropists and others in relation to Australia’s aid and development program.

· Contribute to the development of detailed plans for post-visit activities designed to establish ARLI delegates as ‘champions for aid’.

Please note: this role is only open to candidates based in Australia with full work rights, or Pacific-based candidates in any of our member country offices.

A place to feel valued:

Your deep expertise in understanding government and government processes is invaluable. We recognise your contribution and provide you the support to ensure you can bring your best, knowing here you have the space and opportunity to grow. Bringing your best every day, means:

· Demonstrated experience and understanding of Australia’s political landscape, government and government processes.

· Demonstrated experience and expertise in policy development, research and advocacy, preferably in relation to aid and development policy.

· Previous experience in a high-level policy, advocacy or Ministerial advisory role, is highly desirable.

·Genuine interest in travel to developing countries and working with local communities.

· Outstanding rapport building, networking & relationship building abilities, as well as demonstrated influencing skills
