Job description
The demands on companies and their business partners to respect human rights and environmental standards are increasing. To support partner countries in effectively implementing the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the European Commission and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) have launched the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) ‘Sustainability in Global Value Chains’. The sector project ‘Corporate and Public Responsibility for Sustainable Supply Chains’ (SV UNÖV) operates the TEI secretariat and coordinates the support measures of the EU and its member states. As part of the TEI, employees will contribute to the establishment and advisory services of the ‘EU Helpdesk’: stakeholders from partner countries receive free, individualized advice and recommendations for suitable support measures from experts at the EU Helpdesk. The expertise in corporate and environmental due diligence and collaboration with actors in partner countries will be used to advise them on how to become ‘fit for CSDDD’ and for related EU regulations. We are looking for an intern (m/f/d) for the EU helpdesk and the TEI secretariat supporting the development of the Helpdesk and the coordination of the TEI.
Your tasks
During your internhsip you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Conceptual and content-related support in the further development of the TEI ‘Sustainability in Global Value Chains’ with international cooperation partners
- Technical and administrative support in the development of the helpdesk and in collecting and processing EU-wide support measures for the implementation of human rights and environmental due diligence requirements
- Preparation of drafts of advisory and communication products to promote the helpdesk to cooperation partners and the helpdesk’s target groups
- Supporting the organisation of meetings and conferences
- Participation in and documentation of events and meetings with national and international cooperation partners
Your profile
- University degree in economics, political science, law or social sciences or a similar subject (at least 4th semester)
- Initial work experience in governmental organisations, NGOs, companies, business associations or consulting firms (e.g. through internships) is an advantage
- Knowledge of topics, processes and actors in the areas of business and human rights, corporate responsibility (RBC/CSR) and/or sustainable supply chain management is an advantage
- Interest in policy-relevant issues (e.g. at EU level) and strong argumentation skills
- High level of communication and teamwork skills
- Conceptual and analytical thinking as well as an independent, structured way of working
- High degree of proactivity and motivation
- Confident handling of MS Office
- Business fluent in English, fluent in German, another language (especially French or Spanish) is an advantage
