JOB DESCRIPTION

Functional Setting:

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) promotes sustainable migration policies with initiatives across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Mediterranean. Through the Migration Capacity Partnership for the Mediterranean (MCP Med) framework, ICMPD builds effective migration partnerships by strengthening governance, enhancing professionalisation, and modernising migration management practices. MCP Med fosters robust regional cooperation, facilitating information exchange and capacity-building among Mediterranean countries to address shared migration challenges effectively and sustainably.

In Lebanon, ICMPD’s Project Manager in Beirut oversees the Danish-funded Migration Management Programme, aimed at strengthening Lebanon’s migration data management. The project will establish a centralised National Migration Data Management Centre to enhance data-sharing between key agencies. Main activities include system assessment, IT infrastructure development, interagency capacity-building, and ensuring compliance with Lebanese and international standards.

Reporting to the Head of Office/Portfolio Manager, s/he is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, control, and completion of the project, ensuring alignment with ICMPD’s strategic objectives, goals, regulatory framework, standard administrative practices, and operational procedures, as well as partner and donor agreements. S/he actively contributes to project and capacity development and supports resource mobilisation efforts.

Position-Specific Expertise

  • Knowledge and understanding of migration issues, especially within Lebanon.
  • Capability to establish effective relationships with stakeholders, and successfully build strategic networks and partnerships.
  • In-depth knowledge of human rights and gender issues, with demonstrated experience integrating these principles into program design and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficient in knowledge transfer and capacity-development.

Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills

  • In addition to the languages listed in the job profile (i.e. fluent English), proficiency in Arabic is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in capacity development initiatives, specifically training is an asset.
  • Master´s degree related to the area of work​.
