About this position:

IFD is looking for a service-oriented, dynamic and motivated professional to join our team to support the ongoing improvement of the quality of our department’s operational products, specifically by providing technical and analytical support for oversight of the preparation and supervision of loans.

You will collaborate with the operations team, as part of the IFD Front Office, and will have the opportunity to impact the quality and effectiveness of the Department’s loan project proposals, help enhance the performance of its loan portfolio and support its operational agenda in all areas of IFD.

 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct technical reviews of IFD’s sovereign-guaranteed operations presented to the Eligibility Review Meeting (ERM), Quality and Risk Review (QRR – and post-QRR), Operations Policy Committee (OPC), and Board of Directors. This includes ensuring operations meet the technical quality and policy standards of the Department and the Bank, with special attention to institutional/financial/economic analyses, project management tools, risk assessment, risk mitigation, overall document quality including a clear theory of change/program logic, development effectiveness framework including the definition of clear objectives, quantifiable and precise indicators, and adequate monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Providing technical and operational support to project teams in institutional strengthening projects in sectors that include transparency, digital governance and innovation, fiscal management, public expenditure, productive and sustainable financial opportunities for SMEs, citizen security & justice.
  • Collaborate on developing initiatives designed to improve effectiveness of the IFD Management’s operational work, including data gathering and analysis, and implementing digital solutions and automation tools to promote efficiency in managing project pipeline and portfolio.
  • Prepare inputs to support IFD’s pipeline monitoring and portfolio in execution throughout the project cycle, including analytical reports on project preparation and approval with key findings and actionable recommendations to IFD Management and Divisions.
  • Participate in a broad range of other activities providing research, technical, and operational support for the Department, as requested by the supervisor.

What you’ll need:

  • Education: Master’s degree in economics, public policy, public administration, international relations, political science or related field, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant, applied professional experience, with a strong background in project design and/or management, evaluability, monitoring and evaluation. Experience in LAC’s public sector and/or international development organizations is highly desirable. Knowledge of IDB policies, instruments, procedures and systems is also highly desirable.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is a plus.

  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
