About this position:

The Integration and Trade Sector (INT) of the Vice Presidency for Sectors and Knowledge seeks an outstanding and experienced trade and competition specialist to support the Trade and Investment Division (TIN) in operational work across the region.

The consultant will work as part of INT/TIN team and report to its Division Chief. INT/TIN assists member countries in designing and implementing trade, investment, and integration policies that facilitate economic growth, development, and poverty reduction.

 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Support Team Leaders within TIN in the CCB regions of the Bank in the design and execution of Loans and TCs. This includes the preparation of relevant loan design documents; monitoring processes, coordination of mid-term evaluations, and final reports (project completion reports), with particular emphasis on the successful achievement of results (effectiveness).
  • Coordinate the technical work on Competition Policy and prepare the transition for 2025, including the IDB-OECD Latin American and Caribbean Competition Forum, the Peer Reviews and support the TCs related to Competition Area.
  • Any special assignment from the Division Chief in areas of Trade, Investment and Competition, including documentation of lessons learned in executing operations in the CCB countries, training of personnel in trade agencies and executing agencies on issues related to operational impact, and other technical support.

What you’ll need:

  • Education: Master´s degree with a focus on Trade and Competition.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

 

Type of contract and duration:

  • Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
  • Length of contract: 7 months.
  • Work Location: On site.
