JOB DESCRIPTION

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated professional to join its headquarters in Battaramulla, Sri Lanka, as an Assistant Human Resources Officer.

The Assistant Human Resources Officer will support the HR Operations team in managing recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure the organization attracts and hires top talent. This role will be responsible for posting job advertisements, screening applications, coordinating interviews with hiring managers, and maintaining accurate recruitment records. The incumbent will also assist new hire procedures, including onboarding and induction, while providing administrative support to ensure all activities align with institute policies and compliance standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and publish job advertisements on various job boards, social media platforms, and professional networks ensuring job postings are accurate, timely, and reach the target audience.
  • Conduct initial screenings of CVs and applications to longlist candidates based on qualifications, experience, and job requirements.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers and candidates to ensure selection activities are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Prepare interview materials and ensure all necessary documentation is available.
  • Communicate with applicants regarding the status of their applications and provide feedback to candidates promptly.
  • Maintain records of recruitment processes and documentation in compliance with internal policies.
  • Coordinate the new hire process, including preparation of offer letters, pre-employment medical testing, new hire paperwork, and other formalities.
  • Support and coordinate induction procedures for new hires, maintaining an up-to-date induction and training calendar.
  • Assist with maintaining the department’s filing system, including employee personnel files and recruitment records.
  • Support processes and procedures associated with the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, probation, salary and benefits administration, contract renewals, and terminations.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR Operations team as required.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Essential,

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 06 months of experience in recruitment in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience working with HR software and online recruitment tools.

Desirable,

  • Experience working in an international organization.
  • Experience with application tracking systems, personal file maintenance and onboarding procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Essential,

  • Sound understanding of processes and best practices related to the human resources field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office package.
  • Excellent oral and written language skills in English, including effective listening and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to demonstrate accuracy in all documentation and communications.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate high standards of conduct, respect, flexibility, and a sound work ethic.

This is a nationally recruited position and only Sri Lankan nationals will be considered. IWMI offers a competitive salary and benefits package, inclusive of health insurance, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, and long-term disability coverage. The duration of the contract will initially be for a period of three years with the possibility of extension.
