Our objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance, has an equal chance to fulfil their potential. The Health System Strengthening Assistant is established to support the Health and Nutrition team in providing technical and logistic support to Ministry of Health and other health partners in implementing the Early Childhood Development agenda and the Sexual Reproductive Maternal, Neonate and Child Health activities in the West Bank.

Task Description

-Support to Health and Nutrition section in field monitoring of implemented activities throughout the West Bank. -Assists in preparing periodic updates of the Health and Nutrition activities in West Bank through compiling data, analysing and evaluating relevant information and providing the technical input in a timely and accurate manner. -Support Health and Nutrition team in monitoring health and nutrition activities related to capacity building, standard operation procedures development, supply chain strengthening among others. – Support in Health and Nutrition reporting and providing inputs to Situation reports, donor reports, end year reports among others. – Participate in technical meetings with health and nutrition partners. – Support technical evaluations of supplies and follow up with supply team and relevant partners after awarding the tenders to ensure monitoring of delivery and dissemination of goods to end users as planned and conduct end user satisfactory surveys as needed. -Collect goods receipt from relevant partners, government, or NGO partners to ensure fulfilment of payment processes. -Support the Coordination with relevant UNICEF teams such as Communication, Social Behaviour Change, PSEA, and Supply among others. -Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. – As an active UNICEF team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNICEF and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: ⁃ The health and nutrition capacities to support the programme implementation and end user monitoring is strengthened; ⁃ Full compliance with UNICEF rules, regulations, policies and strategies ensured; ⁃ Monthly reports detailing support provided in tasks mentioned. ⁃ Relevant Standard Operating procedures are adhered to. – Accurate information, data analysis, and documentation are timely made available to support the health and nutrition programme analysis, input and reporting. – Effective partnership and working relationships with government counter partners, NGOs and CSOs to conduct field visits and monitoring activities jointly with them. -The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs); – Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. -A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.

Living conditions and remarks

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. A 6-month contract with subsequent contract extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 6428 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as Exit allowance for satisfactory service.
