There’s something special about spending your days alongside like-minded people, just as committed to purposeful work as you. At Save the Children Australia, we attract bright and big-hearted people who are inspired to make a difference. Together, we are fearless in our pursuit of making lasting change for the children and communities who need it most.

Save the Children: A place where your purpose matters.

It takes all types of personalities and talents to drive our organisation– yours included. We value a healthy work-life balance and ensure our people feel connected to each other and our impact. Learn from inspiring people and grow from a connection to our strong local and global networks. From our programs to our support services – this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

Here you’re empowered to make a difference in children’s lives by learning, sharing and collaborating to find new ways to solve problems. In this full-time, max term role, you’ll work as a part of our globally based Climate Change team to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. The Climate Change Adviser plays an important role in delivering on our vision of a better world for children. Whether it’s evidencing climate-related problems and building solutions, or problem solving with teams to support the impact of our Climate Change portfolio, you’ll be contributing to our commitment to children around the world. You’ll be based ideally in the UK, +/- 2hours, and will work predominantly from home.

You will make a difference by:

· Providing high-quality technical input on climate change content for our portfolio of current and future climate change projects

· Advising and reviewing projects and project proposals to ensure accuracy and leading practice on climate change adaptation and partner/donor requirements

· Guiding Save the Children climate change portfolio teams (including country offices and members) to align thinking on context-specific approaches to climate hazards, impacts and risks, through capacity building including development of templates, tools and visuals

· Supporting progress of the pipeline through strong relationship management, analysis of adaptation gaps and drafting content to improve initial project ideas, concepts and / or funding proposals

· Working closely with a range of stakeholders both internal and external such as the Green Climate Fund, to demonstrate and advocate for robust, evidenced based and scalable climate change solutions

· Researching and analysing the climate change and climate finance landscape to integrate best practice and fit-for-purpose emerging thinking into our approach

· Representing Save the Children related to the climate change portfolio on technical working groups or at relevant events/forums.

A place to feel valued:

Your expertise in designing and implementing contextualised climate responsive approaches with accountability and participation is invaluable. We recognise your contribution and provide you the support to ensure you can bring your best, knowing here you have the space and opportunity to grow. Bringing your best every day, means:

· Degree in a relevant subject, e.g., Climate Change, Environmental Science, International Development, etc.

· Experience of developing concept notes and funding proposals for GCF, GEF and/or Adaptation Fund.

· Experience in researching, analysing and drafting climate change evidence and building appropriate solutions, with an understanding of how to interpret scientific literature and climate models, in addition to sourcing most relevant climate information

· Experience in climate change adaptation approaches in development contexts at the national and / or sub-national levels

· Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise and process information on development and climate change issues

· Strong verbal and written communication skills, including engaging presentation skills and the ability to synthesise complex information.

A place to belong:

It takes all types of people to do the challenging work we do. We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team. We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation, and offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:
