Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women’s China Office in Beijing supports and carries out work on (i) enhancing women’s economic empowerment (WEE); (ii) ending violence against women; and (iii) innovative work to address gender issues in China. In addition to the above, UN Women also actively participates and contributes to various UN inter-agency processes and collaborates with UN organizations around specific programme areas.
Enhancing women’s economic empowerment is one of the key areas of UN Women’s work in China. The WEE portfolio includes five main pillars:1) support women’s skills development and life-long learning; 2) empower women-owned SMEs and entrepreneurs; 3) empower women in rural areas; 4) incentivize companies to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment; and 5) establish network, partnership, and collaboration to advance WEE.
Under WEE, a new programme “Enhancing Women Workers’ Employment and Career Development Opportunities” funded by EU will support. The Programme will contribute to the Outcome “Women workers in China have better access to employment and career development” through the three Outputs:
Reporting to Programme Specialist of WEE, the Programme Analyst provides programme support to the effective management of UN Women programmes in the China Office by contributing in the programme design, formulation, implementation and evaluation. The Programme Analyst supports the delivery of UN Women programmes by analyzing results achieved during implementation and supporting appropriate application of systems and procedures. The Programme Analyst works in close collaboration with the programme and operations team, as well as the Asia and the Pacific Regional Office, UN Women HQ staff, Government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful UN Women programme implementation under WEE portfolio.
Functions
1. Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies in the area of WEE
2. Provide technical support to the implementation and management of the WEE programme
3. Provide technical assistance and capacity development support to project/programme partners
4. Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting of the programme/ project
5. Provide technical inputs to the management of people and finances of WEE programme
6. Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies
7. Provide technical inputs to inter-agency coordination on WEE to achieve coherence and alignment of UN Women programmes with other partners in the country
8. Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts
