Job Summary:

EFAT is seeking a consultant to produce learning briefs by analyzing and synthesizing data from an 80-page report (in French) produced by a local research team on hub functioning.

Objectives
The consultant will review a report containing qualitative data collected to address the following research questions:
•    How well and effectively are hubs functioning to improve service provision to farmers?
•    What are the most effective methods and approaches to build trust among private and public sector providers and to demonstrate the value of collaboration and partnership?
The consultant will use the existing data and additional information, where required, to produce two learning briefs (a long and short version).

Objectives

The consultant will use the existing data and additional information, where required, to produce two learning briefs (a long and short version).

Tasks involved

  • Review a report (in French) prepared by a local research team.
  • Consult the research and project teams in Senegal virtually to obtain further information, where necessary.
  • Prepare draft learning briefs (2) in English for review by the project team
  • Based on feedback from the project team, finalize the 2 learning briefs
  • Identify gaps in the data and recommend additional data needed to address the learning questions.

Deliverables

  • A learning brief in English (maximum 20 pages) that addresses the two learning questions.
  • A shorter brief (3-4 pages) in English summarizing the achievements and lessons learned from learning brief.
  • A brief report on gaps in the data and recommendations on additional data needed to address the learning questions.

Experience and qualifications:

The consultant should have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Highly experienced qualitative researcher, with demonstrated experience designing and implementing qualitative research and ability to analyze and synthesize complex and large volumes of qualitative data and information.
  • Advanced degree in social science or other discipline related to organizational development.
  • Experience with outcome harvesting or similar qualitative methods preferred
  • At least 10 years’ experience in international agricultural development.
  • Ability to critically evaluate information and present it in a meaningful way.
  • Proven proficiency in writing clear, concise, and engaging content.
  • Previous experience in writing learning briefs, or similar documents.
  • Fluency in both English and French.
