FHI 360 is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Team Leader for the multi-year Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Building Organisational Capability to Safeguard Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment project. The programme aims to support less-resourced organisations in the sector to reach international SEAH safeguarding standards through a direct capability-building programme. *This position is contigent upon funder award and approval.

Position Description

The Team Leader will lead, manage and guide the project, ensuring that project deliverables are met on time and delivering desired impact. The Team Leader will manage the entire team on the programme and the short-term technical assistance (STTA) experts as needed. The Team Leader will also have primary responsibility for ensuring successful integration of consortium partners in a one-team approach.

The Team Leader will be the primary liaison with FCDO, in-country counterparts, key stakeholders and partners. They will achieve synergy with relevant regional and national level organisations, programmes and donor-funded projects operating across the focus regions. The Team Leader will have experience managing large, complex and multi-stakeholder programmes, with a technical focus on safeguarding. The person in this position will have a demonstrated history of leading safeguarding or other protection-related programs and will serve as a technical and thought leader.

Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Spearhead technical leadership for the team across the programme. The Team Leader will ensure all programme delivery and progress towards achieving programme outcomes and impact, including building on the gains of previous safeguarding investments and activities in humanitarian and development sectors.
  • Manage technical staff and STTA to ensure targets are met and associated deliverables are produced on time and are of high quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and thought leadership, ensuring all programme activities are in line with industry standards related to safeguarding.
  • Lead and ensure a smooth working relationship with FCDO and relevant UK Departments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key regional institutions, CSOs, to facilitate cross-learning and sharing of best practices.
  • Lead the development and quality assurance of all programme workplans, M&E plan, reports and reviews.
  • Ensure the achievement of high-quality results as committed in the work plans and M&E plan.
  • Oversee and monitor programme budget, ensuring budget discipline and compliance with FCDO requirements and FHI 360 policies.
  • Supervise the development and submission of quality technical deliverables and provide accurate and timely reporting to FCDO and key stakeholders on all programme areas.
  • Ensure regular engagement and sharing of lessons with other FCDO programmes in the region to jointly progress towards meeting the safeguarding objectives in the region/country.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s Degree preferred) or its International Equivalent in Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, the Environment, Gender, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology and Youth or a Related Fields.
  • Project Management (PM) Certification preferred, but not required.

Experience

  • At least 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Team Leader or Chief of Party experience demonstrating leadership of large diverse teams and management of complex donor funded health programmes (preferably with FCDO).
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of safeguarding in humanitarian and development contexts, industry standards and best practices, and funder requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated project and technical leadership.
  • Ability to motivate, influence and work well with others to achieve project goals.
  • Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and teams.
  • Strong project management, financial, problem-solving and consortium management experience
  • Experience in thinking and working politically and forming effective partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure progress on project objectives.
  • The Team Leader will be a full-time position in the UK or in one of the focus countries.
