I. Organizational Context
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women aims to make its procurement practices a cornerstone of its competitive advantage as a preferred development partner. This involves strategic integration of procurement from the project design phase, encouraging innovation, and embracing sustainable practices that align with its development goals. Sustainable procurement focuses on minimizing environmental impact and maximizing social benefits. To achieve these priorities, Business Units will adopt flexible procurement strategies for efficient, high-value, low-risk delivery, catering to client and stakeholder needs.
Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Procurement and Travel Services and daily supervision of the Operations Manager, with functional oversight and matrix reporting to the Regional Procurement Specialist, the procurement analyst supervises or is a team member of the BU Procurement Unit responsible for effective delivery of procurement services to obtain best value for money in large offices. S/he analyzes and interprets financial results and regulations and provides solutions to a wide spectrum of complex issues related to procurement and promotes a collaborative and client-focused, quality and results-oriented approach in the Unit.
The Procurement Analyst works in close collaboration with Operations, Program and Project teams in the Business Unit, Region, and UN Women HQ as well as with suppliers and Government officials, to successfully deliver procurement services, provide solutions to complex procurement issues, and provide advisory support.
UN Women embraces a programmatic approach that facilitates adaptation to changing business needs and maximizes synergies across various initiatives to achieve its strategic goals. Consequently, it is anticipated that UN Women staff will engage in cross-unit, cross-functional collaboration, working within interdisciplinary teams.
