JOB SUMMARY: CARE USA is looking for an entrepreneurial and engaging fundraising professional to be our next Senior Director, Philanthropy to work with some of our most generous individual and family foundation donors throughout the Eastern region of the United States. This new leader will join a successful and growing team to raise the profile of CARE, grow the base of supporters and donors, and proactively cultivate new prospective donors from outside CARE’s known donor pool, with a particular focus on the Southeastern United States. We are seeking a seasoned fundraiser who is aligned with CARE’s mission and values to continue building, refining, and executing a donor-focused fundraising strategy for Southeast area supporters. S/he will cultivate relationships with and manage the stewardship of high net worth individuals, families, family offices, and other key decisions-makers capable of making significant gifts, both flexible and designated, in support of CARE’s work. 6-8+ years’ experience in fund development; with a proven track record of securing large (6 and 7 figure) gifts Experience raising $4M+ annually in previous roles. Ability to work both collaboratively as well as independently while being a member of an effective fundraising team. Comfortable with global trends, issues, travel. Salesforce experience is preferred; appreciation for data and experience with a similar donor database system is necessary. RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Gifts Fundraising Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major donors and major donor prospects, with the capacity to make five and six-figure gifts, across the Eastern region. Through cultivation and solicitation of these donors contribute substantially to raising revenue of $3-4 million annually with growth. Develop annual communication, cultivation, and solicitation plans for major donors, including new strategies to increase giving from the current major donor pool and to increase the number of major donors. Ensure that all major donors receive appropriate, consistent engagement/ acknowledgment and an accounting of the impact that their gift has on community needs annually. Stay informed and knowledgeable about planned giving options for donors to CARE. With the Planned Giving team, work to grow and steward donors, who have made or plan to make bequest, legacy, or estate gifts to CARE. Ensure donor and prospect data is properly recorded in the database and that all donor information is maintained with respect to confidentiality. Provide timely and accurate reports to senior leadership on all fundraising activities. Accountable for raising the profile of CARE, growing the base of supporters and donors, proactively cultivating new prospective donors from outside CARE’s known donor pool, with a particular focus on Atlanta, Georgia External Relations With the Associate Vice President of Major Gifts, build and manage relationships with professional advisors in the private wealth management space to generate strategic alliances and new revenue for CARE. Develop and implement strategies for increasing CARE’s visibility in the Southeast with a primary focus on the Georgia and Florida markets. Lead the planning and execution of a minimum of two donor cultivation events per year, including cultivating hosts, managing external speaker and topic, invitation creation and dissemination, onsite event management, and follow up. Leadership and Management Successfully manage one full time employee at the Director level. Represent the Major Gifts team on important task forces or working groups as required. Establish and maintain strategic relationships with colleagues across CARE. Engage Program staff in donor outreach and provide mentorship on donor cultivation to them as needed. Collaborate as needed with the Finance team and Grants Administration team on restricted gifts, planned gifts, and special appeals. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience 6-8 years sales or fundraising management experience in either/or both the non-profit and for-profit context or equivalent. Strong track record of settling and exceeding fundraising targets or sales. Entrepreneurial mindset in building donor portfolios. Experience working with high net-worth individuals, family foundations and other entities based in the region consistently supporting organizations with six-to-seven-figure gifts. Proven experience in results-oriented relationship management, networking, marketing and intelligence gathering. Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple responsibilities and priorities and achieve impact and results under pressure. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Evidence of strong analytic skills and strategy development. Strong computer literacy, including Salesforce (or similar CRM) and all Microsoft Office applications.
